We have a stay booked in a 1BR standard view at BLT. I know these are typically on the lower floors. Any recommendations on particular villas that we should request? We’ve only stayed in 2BR’s in the past.

Do you like being able to walk out the patio? The ground level is fun that way.

I would say what I probably value most is quiet. I am a relatively light sleeper, so the quieter the better for me.

I'd go for a lower floor, then. Highest SV is 5th floor. 4th is the skyway, so it tends to be a bit busier through the elevator lobby. No one goes down to 1-3 unless they need to be there.

outer ring (even numbered rooms) may have a fireworks view, and it can be quite loud while the fireworks are going on (otherwise it is quiet). inner ring, which may be smaller (I have always only stayed in even numbered rooms), may have water pageant music - others could probably comment on that.

Definitely take a look at touring plans' room views and see where the std 1br are. We were on the 4th or 5th floor in a 1br and the noise was not bad - we were on the northern part of the "C" so we had some partial FW view and had no noise from the walkway. (I think we were on the 4th floor, now that I think about it.) Last trip we were on the 2nd floor and only heard fireworks noise. Otherwise very quiet. We had a partial FW view and could also see the monorail. The other + about being in the outer ring is that you have "privacy" in the sense that there are no rooms that can see into yours.

We always request highest floor possible, even numbered room.

Thank you. I just requested floors 3-5 to have it be pretty generic. It gives them more options. The fireworks noise won’t affect us since we won’t be in the room during fireworks. Haha. We’re night owls. I just don’t want it to be loud when I’m trying to sleep between 11pm and 6am. :) Thanks for the touring plans tip. I liked looking at that a lot.

We've enjoyed our stays in the northern part even numbered rooms. 7216 last year in the 2 bed, and 7220 a couple years before in a 1 bedroom. I don't know if they let you get specific, but I'd ask for a room ending in 10, 12, or 20 if possible. Or just north side even number. 2nd floor was pretty quiet, and we easily left the building via the stairs if we weren't going to the monorail. Fair warning though, I can sleep through a plane landing so I don't really notice the noise.

I have wasted so much time looking at the room views there.

Between 11p-6a it is super quiet on any side. I am a very light sleeper as well, and really the only noise is earlier in the evening and later in the morning as more people are up and about, and then the water pageant and fireworks. If my kids are asleep by fireworks, they easily sleep through them even if the windows are vibrating with the noise (yes, it is that loud).

This is helpful! We have a standard one bedroom for June, and it’ll be our first BLT stay.

@kboo I know you have a little one. Does the ground floor make you nervous bc there isn’t a barrier like at say, OKW? We usually prefer ground floor bc...strollers...but we usually stay at OKW where the patios have barriers. We did do a ground floor stay at the Poly villas about a year and a half ago, and our son didn’t ever try to escape. Ha. I feel like the sliding doors are probably too heavy for the under 7 crowd.

My husband and I thought the fireworks and ferry horn were super loud at the Poly, but our son slept right through them. I’m assuming (hoping) he and my daughter will do the same at BLT.

I might just skip a request this trip in favor of first available villa so my youngest can get a nap on arrival day. I found some nice views from the outer villas on touring plans, but if the inner villas are significantly quieter at fireworks time, I wouldn’t mind one of those either. Seems like there are positives for whatever villa we get.

I have never stayed on the ground floor anywhere, but would not be concerned. the sliding doors always have an additional lock that is too high for a toddler or even a younger kid to reach. Also, as you note, the sliding doors are pretty heavy. I wouldn't worry.

(If anything, I am more concerned about my now-3-yo climbing the balcony railing. Well, not any more, thankfully, but she's more likely to climb than run off)

I would be in this camp as well. I think the ground floor would be ideal for us in the standard view rooms and highest floor in Lake View.

You're right. I forgot about the too high to reach/hard to find lock on the sliding doors. That must be why we didn't even think about it when we were at Poly. My son (about to turn 5) is now tall enough to reach the security latch on the main door, much to our annoyance. When he's in a "mood" or just excited to get going, he's been known to try and escape. First floor works well for us because he's usually excited to escape to and use the elevator, and on the first floor, the elevator isn't an issue. My just turned 2 year old daughter is also more likely to climb that to run off. My son can be a runner and a climber. Lol.

I always try to get a sneaky fireworks view (this has been successful the last two stays) for the price of standard. Maybe a summer trip for access to the pool and play area?

We usually head up to TOTWL for fireworks so I haven't tried to game that too much. Definitely like ground level for access to the play area and pool for a summer trip. That would be cool to have a 'backyard' for them to play in if we had the grass area.

Thanks for the tips, everyone! We're doing out first BLT standard 1 BR trip with the kiddos in late November, and I'm following kboo's suggestion (highest floor, even numbered room). I want to try for that sneaky fireworks view. Plus my 3 yo daughter is obsessed with the monorail, so maybe we could see that too!

Fireworks are loud enough to wake me up (they were testing the castle lighting and some other fireworks 1 night our last trip at like 4am), but I’m a light sleeper. My husband and kids sleep through them no issues. Even with me opening the door to go out and watch by myself lol we stay at blt every year in a standard view room (that ends up being a partial mk view).
