Just curious - anyone know what the MF are going to be for BLT?

I heard 3.68 but close enough lol. Since we have a dec UY we won't be paying MFs until dec 09 - but will be able to use our 09 points for our trip in oct 09 - kind of like borrowing but they have a different technical name for it.

Anyone have an answer for when dues payments and contract payments would begin? Our use year is April if that matters.

Contract payments generally start 45-60 from completing the paperwork. I'm guessing that you wouldn't pay dues until the Sept opening (like no dues until May AKV opening) and depending on UY, they would be prorated.

I agree -- at first glance it seems like a great value. I'm wondering how hard it will be to get at the 7 month mark -- I really don't NEED any new points, but see myself wanting to stay here several times, and I'm wondering if for a little while, it will be really booked up at 7 months. I wish I had a crystal ball right about now!

to be honest.....we've had no luck getting into beach club or boardwalk over the last two years.....

wilderness lodge largely the same....though they did have it for a stay in january....i was shocked....


contemporary will be far worse than any of those....i can't see there being much of anything available at the 7 month.....certainly the phone lines will be packed to get what is left.

Been playing with new point calculator on the member site. As to the point cost, the MK view is going to be an arm and a leg, e.g., 5 weeknights in a studio during Magic Season is 70 points at BWV preferred; it will be 110 for BLT MK view (personally I do not consider an MK view to be 60% better than a BWV boardwalk view but that is about the percentage point difference) . During the week, Lake view will be well above other resorts (comparing to BWV preferred), standard will be above during the week, but where they have evened it out somewhat for lake and standard view is that weekend cost is going to be lower than or close to other resorts for those nights

(And posters think SSR "flooded" the system. Wait until these buyers figure out how much LONGER they can stay at SSR... demand for those cheap nights there and at OKW is going to RISE!)

That's a whole lot worse than AKV last August when Doorway to Dreams opened (double developer points to start with).

Wait, you've got it all wrong!!! They've offered an incentive!!!
For the first 1000 families to purchase 160 points or more, you will get a plaque with your name on it in/on a fountain. I think my guide said the fountain was facing the lake... however, she cut out for that one or two words.

Just think, your name on a fountain... who wouldn't buy at BLT just to get their name on a fountain????

Dh and I are planning to buy in mid January!!!!!! I think BLT will completely blow him away (he hasn't seen any DVC rooms in person yet)

There are many posts that say $5 credit if 100 or more points. I believe the thought is that they don't need incentives to sell BLT points.

I sure hope you're right about the "rise" for cheaper rooms.....

but old key west is already significantly cheaper than the other locations.....and it's still often the second most available.

i don't think the contemporary will sit empty because of point costs....

but you make a good point that it might be available more than i was expecting.....if at high point costs.

If saratoga was the same points as OKW....which it certainly isn't.....the strain on non-home resorts might not be as bad as it has become.....and saratoga offers no discernible difference from old key west....except smaller rooms.


the higher point cost for the MK views is to be expected......they absolutely beat people over the head on cash reservations for MK view at the the 3 lagoon resorts as is.....have for years.....

why wouldn't DVC be the same? you own a piece of the "magic"....but they get to determine which piece it is and what you can see out of the window.

good question... i will need to sit down with my dh if there is any incentive right now for new buyers. probably should call dvc and get a guide too. i hate sales people though.

Just talked to our guide as well about adding on. My question is though do you think that it would be better to add on when we are on our cruise? Do u think there will be better incentives? We really like the idea of having points at BLT but jut no sure when we should do it. We are looking at 25 point add on.

From what I've been reading, the sale of BLT for current DVC owners is Sept 21 and sales to non members (general public) will start about 2 weeks after that. No incentives for the general public have been stated.

If it opens in Sept. 2009 and you have a June UY how does this work? Buy now get 2009 points or 2010? Thanks!
