Last Monday I had surgery.

On Wednesday, I had my blood drawn to check cholesterol, thyroid levels, c-reactive protein, etc.

My CA-125 came back at 37, which is high.

Could my surgery (hysteroscopy and D & C) have elevated that number?

I had to have 2 ultrasounds prior to surgery and was told that my ovaries looked "beautiful."

I have a call into my OB-GYN. Just wondering how worried I should be.

Thanks in advance.

Just bumping back to 1st page in hopes of some more information.

Thank you to the people that have PM'd me.

I wouldn't be worried until you talk to your doctor. Blood counts can mean different things for different people. Hang in there and wait to hear from the doc!!!

According to a search I did on WebMD here is what it says - scroll down toward the bottom regarding what the tests mean. But I wouldn't worry, truthfully, until you talk to your doctor. My moms counts were elevated for over 6 months and they couldn't find a thing until they did a PET test, and even that was possible it was inconclusive so the only other option was a biopsy. When she began treatment and the counts kept going up it dumbfounded everyone, even the doctor. I don't want to say anything scary but it's always best to talk to your doctor....

As an ovarian cancer survivor I have a CA-125 done every year. Anything under 35 is considered normal so your 37 while higher than that isn't way out of range. I would definately talk to your doctor and other tests can be done. Better safe than sorry.

Good luck!
