Just found this and thought I'd share:

  • On their website, log into your verizon wireless account.
  • Goto MY SERVICES
  • Goto VERIZON SAFEGUARDS \ SPAM CONTROL (thanks jnfr2424!)

for each phone number on your account you can set up to:
  • block up to five telephone numbers.
  • and up to 15 email addresses (name@name.com), domains (www.domain.com), and/or text names (nickname@vtext.com).

A certain x-BF of DD won't leave her alone & she asked if we could block the number. Good to know I don't have to download any app with a fee to do this. :thumbsup2

ETA: This could come in VERY handy when in Disney to block those annoying calls from work! (You know the ones I'm talking about)

Thanks for sharing!
One more thing to add its under Spam Control!
But this is a great tip!:thumbsup2

Thanks! I signed up for the $5 a month parental controls just for this feature! Now I can cancel it! Thanks!

I will do this now! I have Verizon, and all of a sudden, the telemarketers are calling! Enough already! :headache:

My friend just told me about this feature.... does it tell the person that they are blocked?

 No clue. I'd try it with my kids, but I'm afraid the database record for filtering my number out would get "stuck" and my number would be forever banned from calling them.

I tried this with my friend who also has Verizon... I blocked her then she tried to call and text me. When she called me she got a recording... it didn't say you've been blocked, it said something along the lines of "the verizon phone you are trying to reach is not available. Message 27"... she didn't remember it word for word, but it did not say you've been blocked, and she didn't have the option to leave a message either. When she texted me she said that the text message she sent me showed a red X in front of it. SO.... if you do block someone this way they won't be able to reach you, and they won't specifically know they've been blocked.

Block away, my friends, block away.

Thank you for the test results! Good to know that the blocked people won't be given a reason to start using alternate numbers.

I hear ya.... my friend's husband was considering changing his cell phone # because his exGF from over 6 years ago will call/text every few months to check in w/ him and see what he is up to... he doesn't respond to her (my friend checked the bills...) BUT it causes friction in their relationship because this girl just won't get the hint. And he has hinted not to subtley that he wants no further communication with the ex. The last time she texted him (after not texting for almost a year) my friend was in labor delivering her 35 week stillborn baby girl. She just about flipped out when she realized that the whack job exGF texted her hubby at that time (he didn't tell her till loooooong after they got home from the hosptial... but he didn't want her to think he was hiding anything). SO..... this function will prove to be quick useful for them!

I subscribed to this thread months ago. Tonight I had to use it. Not happy about why I had to but thankful to the OP who posted it. Only wish now I would have done it months ago!!!
