Day 2 – Magic Kingdom – Watch out for things that “drop” under trees…

First I must say that I sit here and write this from my room while drinking my second glass of wine from the concierge. I LOVE the concierge service. Again, I don't think we will do it any other way.

Only thing I am dissapointed about is the fact that we have not had any towel animals yet and Julia looks forward to them. I poked Mark about it today so hopefully that will get results. Also, we did not get anything for Julia other than the cake. With all of the early planning, I was told they were going to do something for her and they asked several times what my DD's favorite character is so I thought she may get a card or whatever from Tink or Pooh. Sigh. Oh well.

Did someone say that attendance was low? We started out the day at Chef Mickey’s for a fantastic breakfast and we also introduced Julia to the whole idea of the Autograph. Fun fun fun. Lots of celebrations while we are there and the whole place wished Julia a happy birthday. Nice! They also gave her a button that says, “Today’s my birthday.” People told us that she would get lots of happy birthdays by wearing it but we only heard 2 the whole day. Strange and somewhat disappointing I guess. No matter. She’s 3 years old and probably doesn’t care too much right?

Anyway, after breakfast we take the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom. The fun begins. Ok, we are a party consisting of me, my wife, my daughter, my mother in law, my father in law, my sister in law, and her husband. WHAT FUN IT IS TO COORDINATE! I was losing my patience for a good part of the first hour at the Magic Kingdom. The place was PACKED! It was HOT! We just couldn’t get a plan together and it seemed like nobody was listening to me. We finally get something of a plan together and head on over to It’s a small world. Everyone goes on but me. I stay and watch the stroller and all the bags. After that we all decide it would be best to split up. (Woooohooo!) My wife, daughter, and I all head over to Dumbo. DW and DD go on as I wait for them in the shade under a tree. I felt something hit my side lightly so I look to see what it was. Bird “poop”!! Yep! I got bombed. This did not make me happy. I said many “fine” words quietly to myself. Can you all imagine??? :) So…I head on over to the bathroom to clean up. It’s all over my shirt. Could be worse. All clean. Back to Dumbo. Then when done, it’s off to the Carousel. Daddy gets to ride with DD and loves every minute of it. What a quality Carousel too. Not something I am used to seeing. After that, it’s off to Peter Pans’ Flight (???). About now it’s running around 12:30 to 1pm so we all decide to do lunch. We went back to the hotel room and got some take out from Whispering Canyon and hoped that Julia would take a nap. She was ready to pass out when we are at the kingdom but seemed to get a second (maybe even third) wind at the room. Slowly as the afternoon went on it was apparent that we weren’t going to get back to the Magic Kingdom. Julia got worse and worse and finally, in a temper tantrum like no other, she plopped her head down and went to sleep. HURRAH! Around 7:00pm, the concierge crew came to the door with birthday cake for Julia. We all had this great cake and headed down to the lobby for Julia to play on her “bridge” for a while. The rest of us just sat around and relaxed.

The day didn’t go QUITE as planned but we made it through. Tomorrow’s plans are not too exciting. It’s one of our scheduled downtime days at the pool. Maybe we’ll do the boat cruise with a pontoon boat as well. Either way, we bumped into Corky and her husband Fred and son Jared again tonight. They had just returned from Spectro Magic and loved it! The plan is for us all to get together for a little while tomorrow. Sorry for the “not so exciting” report for the day. I figured it would get a laugh just for the bird bombing incident. More tomorrow. Night night Dis’rs!

Maj watch out for the birds if you go to Animal Kingdom. DH got pooped on not once but twice while in line for the safari ride. We all got a kick out of it because he is very particular, and there he was with bird poop on his shirt. LOL Have fun the rest of your trip:p

....sounds about just the right amount of excitement for a 3-year-old princess on her special day!

It seems to me, tho', that you should have played the FLA lottery, what with the POOP and all.....;) :teeth:

I got bombed by a seagull at the beach yesterday...right in the hair - EW!

Hope tomorrow is better!!

Hey!! Your in Disney, it was a great day. I guess I should have warned you don't sit under a FL Bird. LOL

Have a great "Down Day", hope to see you Sat. Keeping and eye on Isabel, looking better for FL so far.

Love the reports. Wish we were back there. Happy Birthday to Julia.

Fred,

All the planing, all the dreaming, all the wishing and all the waiting....then you get pooped on before your first ride. Yep! right on schedule. Have a GREAT TIME and keep the reports coming.

(Don't look up while setting under any trees)

Sounds like a wonerful second day...

LOVE the reports, Fred! Bird poop and tantrums . . . ahhh, par for the coarse! ;) As you said, even when all does not go as planned, it's still enjoyable in every way! Did you end up subscribing to TourGuideMike - he advises avoiding MK like the plague on a Sat! ;) We discovered why when we went in the evening for SpectroMagic! Have fun tomorrow - good to plan some "down time" - we could have used much more of it!

Hey Fred,

Kimmar is right, you SHOULD play the lottery. It is on Saturdays and Wednesdays.

Right before my birthday in July, Marcel got pooped on by a bird and I told him it was good luck, that night he went and got our lottery tickets checked on and we won $400. No kidding. So try and play.

Anyway, wishing you much luck. We really look forward to reading your posts. That was the first thing I did this morning was turn on the computer to see what Fred wrote! :D

Take care.

Fred, ask mousekeeping if Dianna/Dianne could do your room.

She's the best mousekeeper we've had at Disney! She's very nice and attentative to detail. She also LOVES to make Towel Animals for the kids.

Great report!

Fred, thanks for taking the time to write these great reports while you're on vacation. You're definitely adding to the excitement at my house!!! Only a few more days and we'll be at the Lodge!

Great trip report. Hope your daughter had a grand birthday. My son also got "bombed" by a bird at Animal Kingdom. We had just finished the safari ride and was taking one of their animal trails when he got hit on the shoulder. The bird must have just eaten a big meal because he left a big dropping - lol. I had to clean it off and about got sick in the process. Happy to hear that you didn't let it ruin your day. Looking forward to Day 3. :D

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing!!!

Thanks for the report! We are getting close, and the excitement level is building big time. I had to LOL about your "bombing" episode. The same thing happened to me last year while sitting on a bench in downtown Boston. Ain't it fun??

:jester:

Isn't the Wilderness Lodge great? We were in a junior suite. April. 2003. Loved the theming, restaurants and everything else.

Thanks for the trip reports..Im really enjoying them. Keep them coming please. Your daughter is precious.

I cant wait to go and stay at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time. Every year I go, I make sure I spend some time at the lodge and eat at Whispering Canyon. Now to stay there will be heaven.

Have you ever noticed at dusk the flocks of birds (Starlings) coming in to roost all around Disney, especially DTD.

Play the lottery, the poop is an auspicious sign.
