Ariiving at FW on 9/1. Want to do a day at a water park. Which is better? Typhoon or Blizzaed. Travelling with 3 kids ages 4, 10 and 13?:jester:

We've done both and with kids I prefer BB. There seems to be more for them to do, especially if they're afraid of the wave pool at TL like DS is.

Both are great fun but IMHO, I much prefer Typhoon Lagoon. It just seems a bit more relaxing.

If thrilling slides and atomic wedgies are what you think you're kids would enjoy, then Blizard Beach it is!;)

We did both with DD7 and DS10 and probably would recommend BB for kids those age. With BB we could watch them in the wave pool from the shore, but at TL DH could barely hang on to them by holding each by the hand! The ski patrol is also really cool for the kids, TL only has a kiddie pool. The family raft ride at BB blows away the one at TL!

We did like the storm slides at TL, though, and the atmosphere was much better. I'm glad we did both, actually, but if we could've fit in a third trip it would have been to BB.

We just returned a week ago and went to TL while we were there and the kids just loved it.. They are 9 and 6 and loved the storm slides, went on it many many times. It was very relaxing there. Went on the lazy river tour around the park with them while husband went and gathered up our stuff to go home. It was a nice way to end a fun relaxing day. Have fun

Been to both and for kids their age I would recommend BB. TL is fun, but they don't really have a "kid" area. At BB they have a great area for kids, especially if they aren't ready to ride all the "big rides" It's great because if you want to just kind of chill while they play there is seating all around the kids area and they can go slide by themselves. Adults can ride a couple of the rides in the kids area. I suggust getting there about 15 mins. before the park opens and head straight for the kids area to get a nice cabana w/pinic bench, you won't be sorry.

Team Boat Springs (the family raft ride) is much better at BB too!

We went to Typhoon Lagoon in 5/02 and our kids were 2,3,and 5. Thier "kid's" area was good for little ones like mine, however, I think your older kids would be much too big for it. The lazy river was good for young kids but yours may think it is too slow. I've never been to Blizzard--we were thinking of trying it on our trip in a few weeks (kids are now 4,5,&7) but I was wondering if it would be appropriate for them? Would the "kid's" area be too "big" for them? (the older 2 do know how to swim). I will be reading the replies to your thread so I can make my decision too.
As long as you are together in WDW, you will have fun no matter where you go!
Happy Disney trip to you!!!:jester:

TL has a super wave pool--like no other--and a cool "dive with the sharks" thing that the kids get a kick out of.

BB has a fun water tobogan ride where you can fit about 5 people in one giant round raft and go down a slide. We love to do that with our family--laugh all the way down!!

Whenever I see these comparison threads, so many people say that if you're seeking "thrill rides" go to Blizzard Beach. I find that a little misleading because BB has so many great mellow rides as well.
Our kids are 14, 10 and 6 and next month will be our third visit to BB. The kiddie area is fantastic...the "middle-of-the-road" rides are terrific...and yes, the thrill rides are great fun as well!
There's a wonderful ride where the whole family goes side-by-side down individual slides on a mat and you "race" down to see who's first. That, plus the big raft ride where the whole family gets in together are just wonderful.
One bit of advice I'd give is try to avoid the ski lift that takes you to the top of the mountain where the taller rides are. Yeah, it's fun going on the chair lift...but the wait can be very long. If you walk up the staircase behind the mountain, you can get in two rides for every one you'll get waiting for the lift. (But, I admit, especially with little ones, walking up those stairs can be tiring!)
Have fun whatever you choose....they both are among the very best waterparks in the country!

I agree with you completely, cd&kids. I went with DH, DD7 and DS10, and the only one that did any thrill slides was DH, and that was only one. We found BB to be much more entertaining for the WHOLE family than TL, by far. And that family raft ride is the BEST!
