Our family trip is set in January 2004 and this will be our first trip to WDW in January.

We don't know what to expect for wheather. We always go the last week of Feb. or first week of March.

Is it usually warm enough to go to Blizzard Beach or Typhoo Lagoon? What is the average temp for January? Thanks

We have only been once in January and will also be there Jan 2004. During our trip we had six days in a row with swimmable temps. Only one cold day. However a few others have reported really cold temps so I guess you'll just have to hope!!

We are planning on a day at Typhoon Lagoon also. Probably the Tuesday of our trip. I am dying to do Shark Reef, if I get brave enough to put on a bathing suit! If it's lousy - we'll head over to DownTown Disney.

I agree that all you can do is hope for good weather if you go in January. Here are some things to note:

1. Blizzard Beach will be closed, only TL will be open.

2. Going to the water park on a cool day will seem colder than swimming in the hotel pool, because you spend so much more time in the air than in the heated water if you go down the slides a lot.

3. Even in the heat of summer, the Shark Reef is COLD. I had to adjust to the cold water when it was 95 degrees out, so I can only imagine how cold it might seem if the day was only 70-75 degrees. If you're going just to snorkel, you should increase your standard for "swimmable" weather.

We've gone in January twice now, and both times it was warm enough to use Typhoon Lagoon. It's quite nice actually. There aren't that many people and you can really relax and enjoy it. You just have to watch the weather and be flexible enough so you can take advantage of a nice warm day.

Thanks for the heads up Alvernon90! We are used to cold oceans up here in New England - but it may be a tad too much in January!

Why can't they train those sharks to swim in heated water! LOL!
