Blizzard Beach ???'s

We do not have a hopper plus pass, and just want to do one day at Blizzard Beach. Can we get any discounted tickets ahead of time? The only thing I can find is buying tickets there for like $33.

Also, do your recommend wearing water shoes or sandals around the park? Will they let you wear them on the slides? I mentioned to my kids that we had to buy water shoes before we went and they were horrified -- said they wouldn't wear them. (they're teenagers), so can someone tell me how bad that pavement gets? We're going beginning of August.

One last question -- we'll be on the property Friday and Saturday -- is any day better than the other? Our other day we will be doing Epcot and MGM together. Any suggestions on which day to go where...

I'll never forget our visit to Blizzard Beach in 2001. There were long waits for the slides, etc and we didn't have anything on our feet. The pavement was unbearably hot and painful. We would never go back without watershoes.

We were at BB last August, and did not have any water shoes. We were fine (we have teens also). Of course it did help that there were a few rain showers while we were there!

We were at Blizzard Beach today and didn't wear water shoes for most of the day. They have "sprinklers" constantly keeping the walkways wet, to cool them off. I didn't have a problem without shoes.... every single walking surface was soaked.

They'll probably be okay without them. I suggest flip flops for walking in and out of the park though.

Many slides do not allow water shoes. A lifeguard made my DF wear his water shoes on his hands down a slide this morning!
