Heading to Blizzard Beach in May and wanted to know if anyone has ever experienced the water park with a 4 year old. Of course, the wave pool is an option but was wondering if there are any height requirements for the slides. I know Summit Plummit, Slush Gusher and the Tobagon's are off limits for youngings..is it worth going to? Would Typhoon Lagoon be a better option.

Thanks,
j

A lot of the tube rides at BB can be ridden with a double tube. My DS was 5 when we were there but was short barely 40 inches and we rode a lot of the tube rides as a double. The water is only about 3 feet deep at the bottom and he just stayed on the tube and I would get off and pull him over to the steps.
The family raft ride at BB is better also.

When I was at BB last year we rode on the family raft ride many, many times. DD was 3.5 years old and about 42 inches tall. She also liked going on the middle aged kids slides all by herself. We did not go on the bigger ones though since we did not have a lot of time and had no idea you could go on some with a double tube.. this year maybe.

DS was 3 the first time we took him. He went on all the baby slides by himself, the middle kiddie area also was great, he went by himself again. One of us at top and one of us at the bottom. Of course the top one has to walk down to take him back up. He also went on the family raft ride and another that there was a double tube for. He had the time of his life. Went back again right before he turned 4 and again the same rides. We actually never even went in the wave pool.

I have read that Typhoon Lagoon is better for small children and BB is more adventerous.

We are going in May too :goodvibes and we are going to do both. If Blizzard Beach isn't working for my son then we will head back to Typhoon Lagoon.

Can adults ride these too? I mean, I know it's not a thrill...but it would be nice to ride down, and then let the other spouse be the next one to take the child to the top. Is this possible?:confused3

Not if she is talking about the ones in the children's play area. They are very little. My son was 2 1/2 and I just stayed at the bottom he did fine waling up to the top by himself and getting in line. there is a CM at the top that tells them when to go. I took him up a time or two and he got in line and I walked down but after that he went himself- too much walking for me!

The adults cannot ride in the toddler area or the kiddie area (not sure if that is the name of it). The water at the bottom is quite shallow. One time we went and they had the parent get the child at the bottom (being in the water), the next time no parents were allowed in the water, some CM's told the kids to jump out and pull the float over, others just pulled the kids to the steps in the tubes. There is a middle in the tube so they can't "fall" in the water through the middle.

There is slide in the toddler area where there is not tube and the parent can go, it is like 4 in a row. You just sit down and go.

The child has to carry the tube up, in the kiddie area there is no way my son could do it. In the baby area if it wasn't crowded (after about 4 or 5 pm) he would go up by himself while I was at the bottom. He isn't one to go off by himself ever though and always wants me holding his hand. I did see many little kids going up by themselves in the baby/toddler area.

My daughter was three this past summer and her favorite park was BB. She loved the tobaggan racers. She did the straight ones with bumps. You can wear a life jacket on that ride as well.

We did BB in Jan. with our kids and have a 4yo.
(Typhoon Lagoon was closed so we didn't get to go to make a comparison.)
While there was definately more for my older kids to do, my 4yo had enough and had a really good time. We did Teamboat Springs as a family several times and everyone loved it. The chairlift ride was like a ride for DD4 in itself.
She had fun on it. We also did Tike's Peak which was perfect for her because she could do most of the activities independently while we watched her.
We did the wave pool and she also loved some of the slides at the Ski Patrol Training Camp, the area for older kids. There was a slide there that she went down probably 25 times while my older ones did the activities there. I stayed at the bottom in the water and caught her...it was no problem to do that.
While the older kids did some things for only them with my DH, I took her for a snack and a little shopping. It was a fun day and felt while there could have been a little more for her, it was adequate. It wasn't hot, 70 degrees, so we didn't feel the need to be in the water all day. It was the first time we've gone to BB and I would love to try TL, but would definately do BB again.

We went last summer with my 3 yr old son and my 4 yr old daughter. We loved BB better than Typhoon Lagoon. It was surprising how many things both the kids could do (like the toboggan ride!). The family raft ride is awesome and the children's area is great. My kids absolutely loved going there. In fact, when we said we were going back to WDW this April, the first thing both my kids said was, "I can't wait to go to Blizzard Beach!" :confused3 We actually plan to spend a little more time at both water parks since the kids loved it so much.

We did BB first and then went to TL later, and then back to BB because the kids said they didn't like TL as much. I liked the openess of BB better because I felt I could keep a watch on my kids better and they could easily "find" me.

Just my opinion! You will have fun at either place.

DS8 was 2 1/2 on our first trip to BB and he loved it. He enjoyed the children's area slides, the "lazy river," the family raft ride and the "adult" slides with the double tubes which he could go on with me while wearing a life jacket. :yay:
One problem with those double tube rides though. The tubes are very heavy and about half way up all those stairs, DS wanted to be carried!:scared1: Luckily I had other adults with me to help, but it might not be worth the effort for a solo adult with a younger child.
