OK, still trying to figure out "THE PLAN". Now thinking we'll be way too tired to do anything on arrival day so am thinking about day 1 (a Thursday in August) something like this:

am - activate FITS passes (WHERE??) then grocery shop
lunch - at condo OR McD's (where?) using Ent. book coupons
2:00 - Blizzard Beach
pm - condo for dinner and bed
gotta be bright eyed and bushy tailed :D for PS at Cindy's first thing on day 2.

Take to Water Parks List:

Questions:
1) What is missing from this list?
2) What do you do with your valuables when you're all on the slides?
3) What do you do if all the chairs are taken?
4) My kids are used to going barefoot. Can they just take off their sandals at the waterparks or do we need to buy watershoes?

Please advise...thank you

Good question on the water shoes..... I would also like to know the answer to that. Do I really need to take all that stuff to the water park? I was kinda tinkin that sun block and towls would be the need for the day. and has anyone swam with the sharks at typhoon lagoon? is it as awsome as it sounds or are you in a cage seperated from them?:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :hyper:

I'm goin to Disney, Im goin to Disney:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We had water shoes, the bottom of the wave pools at both BB and TL just mess up you feet. It would be terrible to get sores on your feet on your first day. Plus the sidewalks can get pretty hot. They have sprayers on the sidewalks in some places, but it is still pretty hot to hop around on. Hope this helps with the shoe issue.....Have Fun

You're really gonna take all that stuff to BB??? When my sis and I went to the WP's last week, this is all I took:

Waterproof disposable camera
Beach Towel (one day I took one; the other day I rented one for $1)
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Brita water bottle (you can get cups of ice for free at the stands)
Water shoes and a pair of flip flops to change into when leaving
Park hopper pass
A little bit of cash
Bought a water resistant plastic case to hold my $$ and ticket around my neck

That's it. Now, we didn't have kids, so we didn'l need to woory aobut goggles, etc.

Do you really need cells AND walkie talkies?? Are the walkie talkies waterproof? if not, what do you need them for? If you're going straight back to the condo, I would just bring extra towels (leave in the car) and sit on them for the ride home.

If you're not going to get there until 2 PM, you won't need much in the way of snacks since the park's only open until 6 PM. Alos, if you're planning on bringing snacks and drinks, do you relaly need to bring cash and credit cards? Or are you planning on buying a bunch of souvenirs?

The lockers are not really big and I wouldn't leave cell phones, cameras, camcorders, etc out.

Re the water shoes, BB has lots of HOT HOT HOT concrete walkways. There's no way I would walk around it in August w/ no shoes on. Go to KMart and spend the $5 or so on the water shoes. Your feet will thank you!

LOL - No! I really don't want to take all that stuff to a waterpark. that list was copied from another list posted here and I cut out some stuff!

Another question - Will they let you on the slides etc with something around your neck, like the waterproof case for money?

Worried the chlorine will turn our hair green. How bad is it?

In my opinion, this is way too much stuff to bring, especially since you are only going for the afternoon.
Things you don't need:

Beach towels- we always bring towels from the hotel, usually don't need them, you are dry by the time you get back to the chairs. Might need one to wipe the sand off.

Underwear and xtra clothes- just a hassle. Have the kids wear coverups over the bathing suit and go home. Much easier.

Extra film and camcorder battery- Wouldn't bother to bring camcorder with you. It would be a hassle to put it in the lockers, and you wouldn't just leave it at the chairs. Just use the film in your camera for pictures, really no need for one afternoon to bring extra film.

Cell phones- not sure why this is needed. The walkie talkies maybe, but really not needed either. When you're walking around at BB, everyone is in the water. So if you wanted to contact someone (DH etc), they may be in the water. He won't have his cell phone with him.

Hand gel- why? just for a few hours, not needed.

Goggles- yes! If your kids like these, they're great.

The other stuff, like the drinks, I never bring. But that is up to you. It just seems like an awful lot to bring just for a few hours. Now if you planned to get there at opening and stay till closing, I'd say sure, go for it. I just think its alot to carry.

What do we do if all the chairs are taken? Has happened several times. We simply plop our stuff down somewhere and go. We literally never sit at the chairs, just go and have fun for the whole time we're there. It SO much fun there!!! The kids will really never want to sit down and relax.

I strongly suggest watershoes. The pavement is very hot.

What do we do with valuables? We leave them with our stuff. But just bring a small amount of cash! And we take our chances with our park passes, only because I know I have made copies of them back at the hotel and they can be replaced if need be. That is the only valuables that we bring. I don't even bring my camera, not worth the risk.

BB is a total blast. I hope you enjoy it!!! :D

Yes, they will let you on the slides w/ the case. They sell them there! I got the thin one, and I believe it was $5. Wish I ahd gotten the thicker one because it was hard to fit my car key in it w/ the money and tickets at BB when we did not rent a locker that day. They're on a long black cord and never got in my way.

Got some new Speedo swim trunks. They have a removable waterproof pocket that has 2 ziplock seals.

I would definitely get the water shoes! They help a lot and you can wear them on the slides!

My wife and I wore the water shoes on our trip a couple of weeks ago but our 3 children didn't want them. The only complaint they had was that the pavement was very hot in a few places. None of the rides or pools bothered their feet. I think children have tougher feet than adults.

Buy one of the containers to wear around your neck, take just a little bit of money and leave the rest of your stuff at the chairs. When we went to BB we arrived at opening, stayed until noon, left the park for lunch, and went back around 2:30. There were way more people leaving at that time and we had no trouble finding a spot for our belongings so your plan looks good to me.

Thanks for all the replies.
PLAN: go in afternoon, take tickets, small amt. cash and a towel.
:hyper:
My kids will balk at wearing water shoes and my husband at the extra expense:rolleyes: They're used to bare feet down here and can run over rocks and all sorts of stuff.

Be minimal! Besides, if it is crowded, you will have a hard time finding an empty chair. It may even be closed due to numbers inside, so check first.

We take beach bag with towels, lotion, disposable water cameras (which I take on slides), few snacks and few dollars. Cooler with some drinks. We eat our meal there. Love the kids meal for all - pretzel grill cheese sand in a sand bucket with shovel.

To mother motto ~ done the Shark Reef many times. No they are not in a cage, they are in the water WITH YOU ! They are not the attacking kind, only about 3 ft long, and they stay at the bottom. Most the fish do. Rays seemed the friendliness. YOU are NOT allowed to dive down. You must swim the top - snorkel. Water is cold and listen to all directions.

WE LOVE IT - but only in the morning hours. By afternoon sediment is stirred up and it is crowded and usually not pleasant. Go early and several times and be done with it. Have taken great pictures with disposable underwater camera.
