Blizzard Beach 'feet'?

We always wear the water type shoes to the water parks. And we've noticed that most do. The one time we didn't, our feet were sore and uncomfortable. The new type sandals (Nike and others) are a little nicer looking than the typical net type water socks, but anything is better than no shoes at all!!

Bare foot for our family. The only time you notice it is walking on the pavement in the middle of the afternoon-hot. I on the other hand would have to say on most of my trips I have seen more feet than shoes.

I personally prefer to wear sandles or beach shoes, but you can do the barefoot thing if you have tough feet. There are also water sprayers along the paths, at least in the hot summer, to help keep the pavement cool. You will see both shoe wearers and non, so I think it is just a personal preferance.

Our family always wears sandals when we hit the waterparks. Not only does it protect from hot pavement, but think of the bathrooms! I really don't want to go into a bathroom with bare feet (yuck!). If you always have them on, then you don't have to worry about finding something for your feet when you want to use the bathroom.

How do you go down the slides with sandals? I understand wearing them to walk around and go to bathrooms, but when going in the water, do you just take them off and go barefoot?

I guess that is what I curious about. I watched a show on the Travel Channel last night about the Top 10 Water parks, and I didn't see anyone with water shoes on going on the slides or using the floats. So that is why I wondered if people do wear them (I would prefer to wear them), or if they go barefoot.

I have been to two smaller water parks; one allowed water shoes and one did not allow water shoes on the slides. So I wondered if BB has rules about it.

Thanks!

We always wear the water shoes. However, on the large slides, they will make you take them off and cross your arms over your chest holding the sandals.

I am supprised, I go quite often and I rarely see people with sandals or water socks (usually its children that are wearing them). But the majority that have posted here say that they wear one or the other. I personally go bearfoot around the park but when I go to the restrooms or stores I put sandals on.

As we have never been to the Disney ones I can only speak to the ones in the Wisconsin Dells (I think they invented the water park :)). At the bottom of all the rides they have a little cubby area to put towels, sandals and such. If it is a ride where you can not wear them, just slide them in there.

Most of the rides in the Dells will let you keep them on as long as there is not metal, so Tevas and water shoes work just fine. Heck, I even wear my sunglasses on many of the rides.

My kids complain, but I have to insist they wear watershoes(aquasocks or sandals) near pools and at waterparks. Three months after a trip to WDW, my son had surgery to remove painful plantar's warts on the bottom of his feet. Although we are not sure where/when he picked up the virus, it was likely by the pool at the resort. For three months the podiatrist treated them, and finally had to remove them surgically(painful and expensive). Fashionable or not, I prefer to be safe rather than sorry.
