Hopefully this is the right section to post this.

The last two times that we've been to Disney World, I've gotten some really bad blisters. Last year, I had new shoes to help and still didn't do the trick.

Any tips, tricks, to help with that. I even tried some moleskin in the spots that I normally get them and that didn't help at all.

I get them every trip. I can even get them in the car on the way, just by thinking about blisters. Sounds crazy, I know. We have a 16 hour drive. On our last trip I had 5 blisters before we arrived. I'll take some tips too.

I have spent a fortune on shoes to try and find some that don't give me blisters. So far the only thing I have had luck with are Reef and Teva flip flops and Skechers Go Walk.

wear moisture wicking socks

cover heat spots immediatly (mole skin/bandaids/etc)

air out your feet often and switch shoes and change socks during the day so that you change the places that may get a lot of friction

soak your feet in cool water (but not for long enough to make them pruney maybe 10 minutes just to cool them down) and dry well whenever possible during the day

don't wear new shoes, well worn in shoes are better as they already conform to your feet

get the right type of bandaid. For toes forget traditional oblong or rectangle bandaids and get fingertip and knuckle ones the shape and long thin straps fit around digits and don't buckle up and cause thier own friction that in turn causes blisters. For heels and bottom of feet go for the extra large bandaides instead of multiple small strips.

I have a heat spot of the ball of my foot that always gets a blister just because of my gait and the excessive amount of walking.

I put on padded mole skin and cover it with an extra large bandaid before I even start. I know that's where it'll be so I just act proactivly.

Hope you have better luck next time.

bring more than one pair of broken in sneakers or comfortable shoes and wear one pair one day and the other pair the next day. it's amazing how well it worked for us. not a blister or a hot spot at all, just general soreness on day 9 and 10.

I have never gotten blisters from my shoes. I guess I may just be lucky in the blister department. I would think if your shoes fit properly and are not too small or too big they shouldn't be moving up and down enough to rub a blister. But what do I know? I have never had one.

Buy some bodyglide!!Best solution for any kind of blisters and chafing.

I used bodyglide on my last trip. In the morning, before I went to the parks, I would apply it to my feet and any areas that tended to chafe. I usually have blisters every trip, but this time I didn't have a single one.

I swear by the moleskin another poster mentioned. I put the moleskin on the places I know I get blisters. I have done this my last few trips and it has made all the difference in the world.

This is the best!! I use it all the time - There are other brands that I use too.
I never have blisters.

But, #1 rule -NEVER wear new shoes - always make sure they have been broken in and comfortable BEFORE you start walking 'miles' in them. :goodvibes

Get Bodyglide! You can fine it at most cyclist or runner specialty stores, or on line. Sometimes Dick's sporting goods carries it, but not always.

I am extremely blister prone. Before Body Glide I had never had a trip to WDW that did not involve blisters. I also had about never bought a pair of new shoes that didn't give me blisters until they were broken in. I started using Body Glide and have not gotten a blister at WDW or DL in years. I also use it when I get a pair of new shoes, and again, I almost never get blisters now. You rub it all over your foot before you put your shoes on (at WDW, I would get blisters not just on my heels, but on the pads of my feet and even on the tops of my feet if the shoes touched there- so all over protects everything). I do it once in the morning at WDW or DL, and we stay in the parks from open to close and I never have issues.

Absolutely body glide or similar product such as Bandaid friction block and moisture wicking socks will do the trick. The body glide prevents rubbing and chafing in any area that is prone to it.:cool1:

Another fan of Body Glide. Once in the morning and you are good for the day. I used to get it at Dick's Sporting Goods too, but our local Dick's stopped carrying it and went with the Mission brand antichafing. It is a gel, takes twice as much, does not work anywhere near as well as the Body Glide stick, and feels slimy. I have also used the Band Aid anti friction stick and monistat brand also, but nothing works as well as the original Body Glide. I just order it online now and would never go on vacation without it.

The only exception where you might need to apply more than once is if you're running a marathon. At the Disney marathon I applied liberally everywhere and anywhere before the race and again at mile 12 in my inner thighs for chafing.Got me through the race without issues but as I was walking to the bus to get back to the room some chafing started. For this years race I'm applying a second time during the race. The stuff is still amazing, another place I used to have issues at was waterparks,(wet clothes and a lot of walking) since I found bodyglide no issues. For last years marathon the temperatures were in the 80's from the midway point on if it's cool or cold I probably will be fine only applying once during the race.

Before my last trip I had read on the DisBoards to pack a change of shoes. At first I thought the poster was crazy for carrying so much during the day but I did it anyway. What a god send! The change of shoes cooled my feet immediately and the shoe contacted my foot differently which relieved the other parts of my foot that were being rubbed. Some days I would change shoes(sandals, flip flops-whatever floats your boat) twice. Not one blister.
I hope this suggestion will help someone else how it helped me. :thumbsup2
