DAY SEVEN: Day Of Characters

We started our day with the Pooh character breakfast at the Crystal Palace. The food was good there, however the seating wasn’t good for a buffet, IHMO. We were seated at a booth/chairs combo, where the booth was part of a long row of tables. The openings between tables wasn’t very wide. We needed to have the kids sit in the chairs on the outer side of table to meet with the characters. The distance from our seats to their chairs was too close for my camera to get pics of them with the characters from my seat (they wouldn’t fit in the frame even on the widest setting). So each time they came, I had to squeeze out between the tables to get their pics. If I go back again, I will ask to be seated in a table with 4 chairs. The food was very good here, as was our server, Jud. However, Tigger missed us twice as he was making his rounds. We had been waiting a long time with 2 anxious kids. I wanted to just leave, but the kids had their hearts set on seeing Tigger. So, I told Jud what had happened and he told the person working with Tigger that he needed to see us. Tigger headed over, saw the table beside us and left again leaving my kids waiting. I was about at wits’ end, but thankfully Jud saw what had happened again and made it a point to bring Tigger over. The kids were happy and I was glad to finally we able to leave. Jud was very apologetic.

After we left, we headed off to find Peter Pan. We were told that Peter was under the weather, so he wasn’t there (a little disappointing for ds), but we did see Captain Hook & Smee. They had a lot of fun with the kids, spinning ds around & around, etc.. We coerced the kids into riding Pirates of the Caribbean and they both ended up liking it. Ds got a plastic sword (with the agreement it stay in the bag until we got back to the hotel) and dd got a bag of jewels.

Then we took the train to Toontown and saw Minnie’s house & Minnie and Chip & Dale. One of my fondest memories of the trip is of my little ones doing the “apple core/Baltimore” routine with Chip. Then we saw Donald’s boat. The kids rode Goofy’s Barnstormer with dh.

Then it was time for us to head to the Grand Floridian for the tea party with Alice. On our way our, we visited with Goofy’s nephew as well as Daisy Duck. We quickly changed the kids’ clothes into a pretty little dress for dd and a nicer shorts set for ds. We needn’t have bothered – all the other kids just had their park clothes on. I was worried about leaving the kids there, but they did just fine. We were permitted to go into the room with them and take a few pics, then they all waved us off. I sat outside the room for the whole hour just incase, but they were fine. I could hear bits and pieces of what was going on. All the kids seemed to be having a great time. When Alice & the Mad Hatter arrived, they did a fun routine of hiding when the CM opened the door. The kids were really laughing. They played hopping & running games and sang “I’m a little teapot”. They even had a surprise for the parents when we came back to pick them up. The Mad Hatter taught them to yell “Parents, no peeking!” when a few parents were peeking thru the doors. The kids had a great time!!

Then we headed back to CSR for a little down time in the room, then back to the GF for dinner at 1900 Park Fare with Cinderella. DD wore her Cinderella dress and ds wore his Prince Phillip costume. There were a lot of little girls dressed up in various princess attire for this dinner. Unfortunately the table we were seated at was the same set-up as at the Crystal Palace and our neighbor for this dinner seemed irritated each time I got up from my seat. Oh well.. The food was good here. Prince Charming came first and was wonderful. He spent quite a bit of time with both kids – treating dd as a princess and ds as a prince/peer. Dd was thrilled that Prince Charming called her his Princess and lifted her back into her chair. Then came the mice – Suzy & Perla. We had to wait a while for Cinderella, but she did finally come. She seemed a little stressed, but was very nice with the kids. The Fairy Godmother was excellent – what a lovely lady she was. She gave each of the kids a little handful of mickey confetti (Bippityboppityboo). She stays in the waiting area so the line for her was long, but so worth it. She is a gem.

We changed ds out of his costume as it is long-sleeved, etc. Dd wanted to keep her Cinderella dress on so we just changed her back into her sneakers. We went back to the hotel. It was lightening when we got back, so we waited a little while, hoping to hit the pool before bed. The kids watched a movie on the Disney channel with Hillary Duff and a drill team. They were acting out the drill team routine, ds using his sword and dd using the sword cover as rifles. It was quite a production and very fun to watch. The storm stopped, so we decided to go swimming. This night, we went to the quiet pool for our area instead of the dig site. It was a beautiful pool. A family with 2 little boys came out and the kids enjoyed playing together in the pool. Then off to bed.

woudln;t you like to be a fly on that wall......sounds like they had a great time......thanks so much for your report........how was the food at the Cinderella meal......was it worth it........thanks again

Thank you!

Yes, the food at the Cinderella dinner at 1900 Park Fare was very good as well. The Prime Rib was good & I remember there was a good variety of choices. The alfredo pasta was very good as well.

One thing I appreciated about the all character buffets was the fresh fruit. My dd is a picky eater, but she loves fresh fruit, so I was happy she could have it so often.

Wonderful trip reports ~ Thanx for sharing.

I am really enjoying your trip reports! I am amazed at how you all get to see so much in a day with a 3 and 5 year old and then go to dinner without meltdowns and then get some swimming in! How did you do it? This would be my dream vacation at WDW. We are going in Dec and have been the last 2 years in Dec. This year our youngest son and daughter will be 5 and 3 so I am hoping that they last as well as your two did. Our oldest 2 DSs' are 10 and 8 so we may do some splitting up. It was warm 2 years ago and we could swim in the evening, but last year it was cold, so I am praying for warmer weather this year.
I also wanted to post that when we ate at Crystal Palace, Jud was our waiter too!! We loved him! I am deciding to eat there again but haven't figured out if it fits in the budget or plan. Well thank you for the reports!!
