Who knew there were so many blenders! over 1000 on amazon :)

I don't want to waste money on a cheap one that will die in a year but I don't use one enough to spend $100 on one.

Plastic or Glass?

Any brands to avoid or brands that are great? features that are needed or a waste?

Thanks

I have a kitchen aid that we got as a wedding gift when we got married 13 years ago and it still looks and works like new. I love it and It crushes ice very well which comes in handy when
making those summer beverages. ETA mine is glass.

I've had a few different blenders over the years. As grateful as I am for gifts, I'm often gifted the cheaper brands that break easily! :rotfl: So, when I get to the point of replacing things with my own money, I try to get something that will last. Anyway, I second the Kitchenaid blender. It's a great blender. I got mine at Sam's Club for a lot less then other stores were selling it for, so if you hunt around, you might be able to find a good deal somewhere on one.

The only problem I ever had with it was when my fumbly fingers dropped the glass jar (or whatever you call it) on the ceramic tile and shattered it. Fortunately, I was able to order a replacement for about $20. :thumbsup2

I've found that the brand isn't as important as how powerful the motor is. Get one with at least a 600 watt motor, especially if you plan to make frozen drinks. I just bought a new Black and Decker 600 watt blender for around $30 and it makes a very smooth frozen drink in just a few seconds and leaves no ice chunks.

Mine is a KitchenAid with a plastic pitcher. We love it and use it all the time for milkshakes, smoothies, lemondade slushies, and the occassional 'adult' drink.;) I bought mine a few years ago (thanks to the Budget Board:rotfl2:)when Lowe's mismarked them and the KitchenAid mixers in their ad.:woohoo:

I was just looking for a blender too. partial to kitchenaid, as have other kitchenaid small appliances. Found one on shopkitchenaid.com refurbished for 49, qvc has one on easy pay for 67, and kohls has one for 100 with free shipping, but there is the 30% code on the disboards, so makes it 70. Trying to decide which one to get. I think the kohl's one is the same model as the refurb on the kitchenaid site.

KITCHEN AID...KITCHEN AID...KITCHEN AID!

I have to say, something happened last week and I feel compelled to post on this!

We make malts...thick, heavy, not milky malts...so we need a strong blender. After having many el cheapos, we went with a Kitchen Aid TWO years ago (notice I said TWO...the warranty is only for ONE year). Skip forward to last week, making smoothies with my daughter, and this perfect blender ended up having a small plastic piece of a seal come apart and ended up in our drink.

Now, hoping they had a replacement pitcher I could purchase, because I loved the blender I already had, I called Kitchen Aid...the representative said no, I could not purchase a blender pitcher BECAUSE SHE WAS SENDING ME OUT ANOTHER BRAND NEW BLENDER due to the circumstances! Outside of the warranty!

Needless to say, there aren't many companies out there with this level of customer services. I am a Kitchen Aid consumer for life!
