Blended Families

How many here have blended their families? We've only been married 3 weeks and the stress is getting to me. I love my new husband and children, but all the personalities and getting to me. If we didn't own a ranch I think I would have jumped out the window already.

Blended family here. 6 years. We had all kinds of trouble the first year or so.

My 4 kids lived with us and his 2 came to visit. If we didnt get it worked out I would have lost my mind. I had to work very hard to make life bearable. Now its great but it took a lot of work.

What is your situation like? Whose kids etc?

a yours ......mine and then ours........I thought we were all one family.....never found out that my dad had my sister and had custody of her 60 odd years ago.....and my mother had my brother and sister and had sole custody of them 60 odd years ago.......and then came my older brother and then me and my younger sister.........we were soooooooooo blended .....I did not know until I was in my early 20s of this great accomplishment......it must of been alot of work....but I am proof that a family does and can exist.......good luck and love and happiness to your family too

I also come from a very large blended family. But our situation was unusual in that my mother was a widow and my stepdad was a widdower so there weren't any 'real' moms or dads out there for any of us kids to visit or anything.

Although it's been many, many years ago now I can easily remember that first year of my parent's marriage and all the difficulties we went through sorting out our places in this new family. I also remember that it took approximately one year before we were all meshed together and I began to feel relaxed and normal again at home.

I know a year must seem like forever to you right now but the good news is that after we did get it all worked out we became a very close family and we have retained that closeness to this day dispite the fact that we have all have families of our own now. We get together on each major holiday plus assorted other reasons (special birthdays, family events, and even special events that our children are involved in like plays and sporting events)

Hang in there. I know it's tough but the rewards are tremendous.

I have 2 girl 15, a boy 12, and he has a boy 16, and a girl 12. Mine live with me all the time, he has his 50% of the time. Even if they were all my own it would be enough to drive me crazy. But with it we've moved an hour from where we use to live and expanded his house.

I have a constant knot in my back and can't wait for it to go away.
