Blasts from the past

What about Pinwheel, Picture Pages and Special Delivery on Nickelodeon. I have always wanted to see old episodes of these shows. I also liked the Super Mario Bros./Legend of Zelda TV show and cereal. I believe the DVD sets of SMB and LoZ have been released recently. It was so much fun being a kid in the 80's!

I remember those. Pinwheel was on all morning and ended at 2 pm followed by Special Delivery. Was Picture Pages the one with Bill Cosby?

I remember the commercial for Legend of Zelda. I don't remember the web site, but there is one out there that has commercials from the 1980's.

I also remember:

Jelly shoes (had a pair)
Leg wamers

Go back to the time when:

Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'.

Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming 'do over!'

'Race issue' ment arguing about who ran the fastest.

Money issues were handled by whoever was banker in 'Monopoly.'

It wasn't odd to have two or three 'best' friends.

Being old referred to anyone over 20.

A chance to skate as a couple at the local roller rink was like winning the lottery.

Before we realized all this would eventually disappear

Who would have thought you'd miss the 90's so much!!!!!

Do any of you ladies remember, as a kid in the 70's, those necklaces that you would wear of fruit with a bite taken out of it? I had an apple core necklace. I also remember one that was an oreo cookie with a bite.

I had Mrs. Beasley too!!! I also had Drowsy. You would pull a string and she would say things. My mom actually found one for my little girl and she doesn't like it at all. Guess Drowsy can't hold a candle to her Cinderella baby doll.

In addition, I remember:

SeaMonkeys
Mikey and pop rocks (rumour/myth)
School House Rock
Seeing Star Wars I in the movie theater
Bonnie Bell lip smackers
Big combs in your back pocket
Shaun Cassidy satin jackets

And sooooo much more.

We used to play a game called Tripoli...was a game where you played poker, had chips that we put in at the end of the game & the winner took the pot., we also were champion "Sorry" players & someone had a Barbie board game where the geek guy was named "Poindexter".:)

Couple of other things that remind me of the eighties:

~I was afraid of Fraggle Rock. Scooby Doo spooked me out too.

~I loved my purple banana seat bicycle.

~I was the only girl in the neighborhood so I got to be Princess Leia everytime we played Star Wars. My mom would do my hair in the buns too.

~Some of the best movies....Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Footloose, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, E.T.,

Okay, I am depressing myself now. I really miss those days.

I still have a Tripoli game and we use pennies instead of the chips:)

I only learned about River Phoenix when I became a fan of Joaquin(his brother)

Is it bad I can sing the entire theme of "Mysterious Cities of Gold" ?

I remember that! I used to love watching it!

DH just came up with a few:

Penny racers
Dukes of Hazzard stunt sets
Micromachines
Merlin
Table top games
Micronauts
Tin Can Alley
Toss Across
Pop O Matic games
Jason of Star Command (TV)
Big Foot and Wild Boy (TV)
Ark 2 (TV show in the 70's)
Nancy Drew

I'm going to add another one: Wrist Racers!

~I still play my original Simon.
~I lived for the original Fisher Price Little People from the 70's. I have my schoolhouse, playground, regular house, school buses and airplane.
~There was a show on Nickelodeon that I forget the name of but I loved it - Alanis Morrisette (sp?) was on it. It was the first show they did the slime thing on.
~I loved the show Double Dare. I dreamed of going on that one
~Sports Illustrated Football game and Hardy Boys game are both in the top of my closet (I am a pack rat)
~Does anyone else remember Emmit Otter and the Jug Band? DH has never heard of the show but I remember watching the Christmas show ever year.

I still have the Emmitt Otter christmas special on VHS! And I watch it more than I should probably admit :rotfl:

And You Can't Do That on Television and Double Dare were great shows!

I was just watching some episodes of Jem last night on DVD.... I love that cartoon!

You know that Jem is outrageous....truly truly truly outrageous? The "bad" girls band on Jem was the Misfits. Jem had a boyfriend name Rio, and the other band members were Kimber (Jem's sister), Aja, and Shana. Man I need a life!

I always loved the little "moral" at the end of GI Joe. "Now you know, and knowing is half the battle!"

Heathcliff
Mon Chi Chi's
Shirt-tails
The Get-Along Gang
Laser Tag (we had the knock off version called Photon)
Weebles
Acid washed jeans (worn super tight)
Denim jackets covered in patches and charms
Charm necklaces
Wearing scrunchy socks over the cuff of your jeans (in colors to match your top)
Keds
Converse
Champion Sweatshirts
BIG hair and Aquanet
Trapper-Keepers
Freezy Freaky's
Hyper Color shirts (they changed color when your body temp changed)
Lee press on nails
Dynasty and Falcon Crest
Sit-n-spin
Pogo Ball
Star Wars collectable glasses from McDonald's

Help me out here - wasn't there something called a Click-Clack?

And don't forget the ever popular Mood Rings and Pet Rocks

Oh man! How could I forget Trapper Keepers! I had one.

I also watched Lazer tag, but I also remember watching Photon (live action similar to Power Rangers) as well as playing the game. DH and I still have our Photon ID badges from when we played the game at one of the Photon Centers! First time I ever saw someone run up a wall and flip backwards! Unfortunately, that center closed down and it wasn't until the mid 90s that Q-Zar popped up. DH and I would go there and have a blast, that is until that one closed down. There is only one Q-Zar left now, but it's not near us.

Sit-n-Spin? Yep, my brother and I shared one growing up. It was the really heavy duty plastic and had metal (?) balls underneath. They were bigger than what is out there now. Back then, two kids could sit on it at the same time. Can't do that now.

Help me out here - wasn't there something called a Click-Clack?

And don't forget the ever popular Mood Rings and Pet Rocks

I've heard them called Click-Clack and also as Kerbangers (sp?). When it first came out, there was a cuff that you could get for it.
