While we were in Orlando we decided to visit a Krispy Kreme outlet to prove once and for all that Tim Hortons is the best doughnut maker in the world. Well after having ordered doughnuts right off the conveyor, the verdict is in. Krispy Kreme kicks butt. They were awesome. Still warm and oh so fresh. I still love Tim's coffee and will always have a soft spot for Apple Fritters, but I have a new love, plain old glazed Krispy Kremes right off the conveyor. Sorry all. Can't believe I'm admitting this.

Well I have to disagree with you I had 3 of them in Macon Georgia and thought they were terrible even warm so I let 2 of them cool down and they got worse I had the equvalent to our Boston Cream and will never eat another Krispy Kreme doughnut again sorry

Nagle - I know what you mean. Here we are, the nation that consumes more doughtnuts than anybody else in the world, but I think we've been outdone this time. We had some hot ones in Buffalo and thought they were great. However, once they were cold I thought they were about the same as Tim Horton's. I agree with you that I'll always have a soft spot for their apple fritters, too.

DSNY FN - I have to admit we stuck to plain glazed and chocolate dip flavours. I do find that Boston Cream doughnuts vary a lot. Sometimes they have a custardy filling and sometimes it's more like whipped cream and sometimes it's more like sweetened icing. If you expect one thing and get another it can be a bit of a surprise!

Heh Nagle did you here they opened a Krispy Kreme's in Mississauga. The lin ups have been a hour long and they have had to hire police to direct trafffic. In fact that location out sold any other open figures across the US. I haven't tried them yet I will not drive the distance to stand in line for an hour. I will on the other hand try them on my next trip too WDW.:D

I WENT TO MISSISSAUGA KRISPY KREME! I was driving by and decided to try it. The walk-in line looked outrageous so I went to the drive thru, took about 25-30 minutes. I got 4 dozen donuts, one dozen for dd's class (cut in half for the kids), 2 dozen for the teachers (even thanked me in the newsletter LOL) and one dozen for us. Funny thing is we aren't donut eaters and they lasted in my freezer for days! THEY ARE GREAT! S

Ok well I went to Krispy Kreme today before lunch while I was in Mississauga and got a glazed warm out of the oven or however they make theirs and well I hate to say it but it still was terrible so I do not think I will bother with them again I have now tried the ones everyone is raving about and still didn't like them I guess once a timmys man always a timmys man in my case but hey I gave them another shot .

Cheers Darren.

Not such a bad DISagreement was it. Tim's coffee still rocks though.

Happy New Year

John

No it wasn't a bad DISagreement hehehe it was kinda fun actually and by the way I got to have my favourite one this afternoon an old fashioned plain I just love timmys doughnuts especially their old fashioned plain ones

Here's another vote for Krispy Kreme over Tim Hortons.

I'm a long time TH customer ( large cream only and an apple fritter pleeeeaase). But, we moved to the US 2 years ago, and I have to say the KK donuts rule! Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of donut shops in south texas, so I have to get my KK's at the grocery store.

By the way, just returned from Toronto, visiting family... got my LCO & AF for the drive to my parents house, AND got a 3 pack of TH coffee for x-mas, from my brother. :)

Can you even get a donut at WDW? I know there is a bakery at Boardwalk, and recall getting bread and cookies, but I don't recall donuts.

Happy new year all!

I am also a Tim Horton's fan. But...... wow was I suprised how good a plain glazed Krispy Kreme donut was! Living in Niagara we are not realy close enough to drive to get one. I had one at work(in TO) and was very skeptical, but it was so good and light! How is their coffee? I like Tims because it is consistant but if I had a choice for coffee it would be Starbucks. Now back to Disney, the kids had donuts for a treat one morning, they were OK. I have never found the coffee that good at the Disney(or generally in the US sorry) fast food or take out style restaurants at the resorts. The coffee place at the Poly had good coffee but I wish it was closer to the Pool and you could use refillable mugs. This debate give us lots of reasons to go back and try them again, maybe a cream filled one!

Actually Tim C my father in law got some at WDW they are plain with sugar on them he got them at Blizzard Beach and they are really good not quite a Timmy's but very good none the less so in your quest for doughnuts at WDW I know for a fact you can get them at Blizzard Beach.

Now that I've thought about it a little more, I recall having a donut breakfast(?) when we stayed at CSR. earlier this year. I'm usually up first, so I went for a walk, stopped by the grocery store in the main building, and brought breakfast back to the room. I don't recall anything memorable about the taste, good or bad.

OK. Why am I not surprised that a thread on 'Canadian Visitors' about donuts would get a lot of posts. :D

Well here is one more TH fan that would like to try a KK. We'll be in Mississauga next weekend so I would love to know where the KK place is. Can someone please give me the address?

Hi Baboo! The KK shop is at the intersection of Mavis Rd. and Brittania West in Mississauga. LOL Let me know what you think of them as I haven't tried them (up here) either although my DB lives really close to the new store.:D

We tried them the last time we were in Orlando as the hotel we stayed at had them as part of their continental breakfast and I found them all very sweet and they "dunk or dip" them all in a sugary glaze:p I thought they were just too sweet for my liking but I'll still want to give them another try next time I'm at my DB's place.;) :)

LOL... Still haven't had one yet... :(

I have to agree that wark KK beats cold TH. But have you ever had TH double chocalate warm and fresh from the oven? I did the other day (they had none left out front) and it beats KK hands down. Now only if we could get TH to put their donuts out warm all the time....

Thanks for the info Sammi! I'm looking forward to trying them on Saturday!
