I liked the original and like the idea of a creepy witch spirit lurking in the woods. The forest is a spooky setting so someone with some skill could make something fun out of this concept. Time will tell.

Yeah, the first movie was the sort of phenomenon that couldn't be done again. Hope they don't try to recreate it. I never saw the sequels. Normally I don't like horror but the way they put the first one together was very interesting.

I was intrigued to find out that Seneca Creek State Park where they filmed the bulk of the movie isn't actually all that large and they had to be careful when they filmed to make it seem like the characters were in some huge, remote forest. Apparently it was tricky to avoid getting the nearby freeway on camera!

Blair Witch movie thread. There are rumors that a 4th movie (reboot) will be made. Did you like the 1999 version the best or did you like the other two movies better? Has anyone on the Dis not seen the famous horror movie? Where does it rank for you in terms of your favorite horror movies?

When I seen the first one, I actually thought it was real lol. I don't remember much about the second or third but I am all in on another. I love horror films!

There were sequels? Yuck. The original was unpleasant enough to begin with. I found it to be a miserable, not scary, film.

On YouTube, there’s a debate whether the yellow monster in BW3 is the witch herself or the remains of Heather from BW1. I can’t post the clip here because of some of the cursing in the clip.

Yeah, it’s not for everyone. The 4th might fix what people dislike about them. Who knows. Better tech and writing might help too.

Horrible acting, ridiculous plot, poor camera work, etc. I understand that’s how it was supposed to be, but to me it was utter trash.

I heard that the porn parody, “The Bare B—— Project” was superior.

I saw the original "back in the day" because of all the hype. It was somewhat entertaining.
I saw the sequel... the only thing scary about Blair Witch 2 was how terrible it was.

That is what actually made it famous. If you research how BW1 was made you would be shocked how much money was earned. It’s a 90’s classic for that reason.

Yup. That pretty much sums it up. 90% of people enjoy BW1. I would recommend seeing it once and making your own opinion on the movie. It’s the perception of unknown in the story that makes it a fun movie.

I meant among people in general when the movie came out. Baby Boomers and Gen X and Y seemed to enjoy it more than Gen Z today. The movie is fun because of what is not seen than what some bad CGI can do to a modern horror film. Did rotten tomatoes exist in 1999?
