Blair Witch movie thread. There are rumors that a 4th movie (reboot) will be made. Did you like the 1999 version the best or did you like the other two movies better? Has anyone on the Dis not seen the famous horror movie? Where does it rank for you in terms of your favorite horror movies?

I loved the first one but not the second. I saw it twice in the theater but had to look down a lot because it gave me motion sickness. I wanted the second one to be from the point of view of whatever was out there in the woods! Sadly, it was not.

Movie 3 confused me. Is Heather the yellow monster or is it the Blair Witch herself? Either way, poor Heather. :scared1:

I’m definitely s horror fan and saw the first one.
I didn’t even know there was a 2nd or 3rd. I guess that tells you how I felt about the first one 😂
Why make another, how about come up with something new. There haven’t been any good horror movies made in a long time, it’s the same old stories over and over.

The ending of the first one seemed to be the factor (besides the documentary feel to the movie), that had people become hooked on it. What didn’t you like about it?

I saw it in a movie theater. Didn't quite understand it, but I didn't feel like I wasted my money seeing it. I didn't have interest in any of the "sequels".

I've only ever seen the first. It was interesting for sure. I doubt I'd see the others but I'm happy for those who really enjoy the movies!

The sequels actually are seen as worse than the original, so most just ignore them.

Yeah I saw the first in theaters, and followed their website, which was very convincing at the time.

I liked the first film, and will watch it maybe every 3-4 years or so. I know many, many were affected by the shaky cameras, and while I wasn't, I think this was kind of a double-edged sword since it helps make the movie seem authentic yet a portion of your audience is not at all enjoying the experience.

The first movie sets up a really creepy atmosphere due to the lore they created with Rustin Parr and the witch, which I really liked. Not only was it intriguing and convincing, but it offers a great setup to direct the audiences' imagination when much of the creepy occurs off-camera, out of frame, or in the dark. Being a small budget film, this worked out really well.

I saw the second, it was awful. I liked the Goth girl! This was the first time I saw the Burn Notice actor in anything. He's still Burn Notice to many of you, but he's BW2 guy to me.

I never saw the remake, but I did see a clip. A bright light, followed by the appearance of the witch? Not sure what's going on there. The same filmmakers did a movie about aliens, so who knows.

If there's another Blair Witch coming, it's probably going to be a Redbox premiere. Is it a sequel to the reboot, or a third reboot?

PS-

I liked that the witch was never seen, and how there was ambiguity as to whether there was any witch involved at all.

But as far as speculating what she would have looked like, there was merch released around the time of the sequel. Here's two McFarlane figures of the witch, one looking like a crazed zombie, and the other like some sort of tree spirit:

I saw the first one and thoroughly enjoyed it. It worked because social media was still relatively new and people could buy into the "found footage" story. The web site that was developed also was top notch. It really helped fuel the fire behind the story.

Nowadays, the "found footage" idea wouldn't work. The film was a one-shot, lightning-in-a-bottle phenomenon.

By the way, Heather Donahue quit Hollywood and is now growing medical marijuana.

We don’t know yet. Rumor online is that Lionsgate is exploring something with the series.

I LOVE horror movies but I hated this one. Heavy breathing and runny noses and wild camera panning aren't scary to me.
