Blair Witch movie thread

I've never understood the notion that people have to come into a thread to go "I dont do horror". If you dont, why would you even post?

Yeah, the first movie was the sort of phenomenon that couldn't be done again. Hope they don't try to recreate it. I never saw the sequels. Normally I don't like horror but the way they put the first one together was very interesting.

I was intrigued to find out that Seneca Creek State Park where they filmed the bulk of the movie isn't actually all that large and they had to be careful when they filmed to make it seem like the characters were in some huge, remote forest. Apparently it was tricky to avoid getting the nearby freeway on camera!

Imagine the trio complaining about being lost and hungry, while we see a big Dairy Queen sign just over their shoulders.

On YouTube, there’s a debate whether the yellow monster in BW3 is the witch herself or the remains of Heather from BW1. I can’t post the clip here because of some of the cursing in the clip.

I saw the clip years ago, some commenters were curious of the bright light flooding the forest before the witch arrives is a flying saucer. If so, bury this series immediately!

I also doubt it would be Heather, and though we‘re likely seeing the witch, there’s better ways of doing it. This remake/sequel/whatever it is, doesn’t seem to hold the same atmosphere as the first. It’s just a cheap cash grab borrowing the name of the original.

Seriously, Siri could find a way to defeat Blair, Freddy, Jason, and Mike Myers. Don’t have a cell phone? Get an Alexa.

Some horror directors get around the cell phone thing by making sure that they don't work. The monster or ghost or whatever often disrupts electronic devices.

I meant among people in general when the movie came out. Baby Boomers and Gen X and Y seemed to enjoy it more than Gen Z today. The movie is fun because of what is not seen than what some bad CGI can do to a modern horror film. Did rotten tomatoes exist in 1999?

Rotten Tomatoes started in 98.

I'm a Boomer and I don't know many people who thought the movie was any good at all.

Is it a great movie? No. Is it just a fun movie to watch with friends on a Friday night? Yes. I think 90’s kids/teens appreciate it more than the Boomer gen. Thanks for clarifying the rotten tomatoes info.
