Blackouts...

I haven't read any post but your first OP so sorry if I repeat anything else or miss an update:

This happend to me a couple of times. A couple of months ago it started happening everyday- I'd get sweaty, couldn't hear anything, couldn't see anything, yet I was concious.

I went to the DR and was diagnosed with anemia and was also told that I had a very serious kidney infection that apparently was the cause of my blackouts. I had to go on some heavy duty kidney meds and the problem pretty much resolved itself.

OP- that is scary and I hope the DR has good news. Good luck and STAY SAFE!

My nephew had this happen. It turned out he was having seizures which now medicine controls. He had to have a sleep deprivation test as well as a sleep test. Please don't drive or panic.

Please, please stop driving! It could be the above; my mom was having TIA's; and my cousin was diagnosed with very low blood sugar after she blacked out and hit a truck broadside..

Good luck with your appointment..:goodvibes

Be aware that depending on your state law, it may be that if you are suspected of having had a seizure your license may be suspended for a certain period of time, even if the problem is corrected sooner.

DH passed out once when he was recovering from surgery, and when I found him (he had fallen in the bathroom at home) he was kind of, well, twitchy. I called 911 and they transported him. When the ER doc asked me to describe what I had seen, he made a big point of not letting me utter the word "seizure", because he said "If that word makes it into this medical record, he will lose his driver's license for a year no matter what."

It turned out that the cause of the problem was an infection, and the word that made it into the medical record was syncope.

I'm not saying that you should hide what happened, or drive while you cannot do it safely, but I am suggesting that you should be careful what words are used to describe the symptoms. Don't make it any worse than it has to be before you get a firm diagnosis.
