Blackout dates for Thanksgiving

Good morning everyone! I have booked two rooms for Thanksgiving (Friday before to Friday after) and am super excited. I was patiently waiting
for discounts to come out and apply to my reservation and then it struck me!
The dreaded blackout dates! Do you think any discounts will apply to my Friday before Thanksgiving arrival or should I arrive one day earlier on a Thursday to hopefully have something apply.

Hubby thinks I should wait and see. I'm not the wait and see type, if you know what I mean

A room only discount will only be applied to those dates that are discounted. A free dining discount is usually applied to the whole reservation as long as you check in on one of the FD dates.

Hopefully the fall discounts will be released soon.

Wow! I didn't know that. I thought that if you came in on the last day of a discount promotion, the discount would apply to the entire stay. Well I guess maybe my strategy isn't going to work so well after all.

We don't use the dining plan simply because we get two rooms and its cheaper for us to take the room discount than the free dining. I wonder how come there are a different set of rules for one discount than another??? Seems kind of shady to me.

From what I've heard, Disney used to apply the room discount to the entire stay. It has only been recently that they changed their policy about how the room only discount is applied. Maybe they will change the terms of the free dining promotion, too.

For the past two years, the last day of free dining before Thanksgiving was the Thursday before. The Friday before Thanksgiving was the first day of the blackout.
