I was just going through my e-mails and I had one from Disney informing me that the blackout dates for my pass has been extended an extra week! That just isn't right. I had planned on taking a daytrip this Sunday, I think I should call and complain, not that it would help. :guilty:

No, that is not right! If I was a FL pass holder, I'd complain big time! I'd try to get them to add those days on at the end of the pass. Just because they are busy doesn't mean they can take away from other patrons (but they are, I know). So what happens if it gets really busy for a month this summer, will they just keep emailing you to let you know that you still aren't welcome? Not cool.

That's not real cool, but FYI, last summer they ended the blackout period early by a week or two! Here's hoping they make it up to you then!

And maybe if you call/email and tell them you already had a trip planned they'll be able to do something for you....

I can't imagine that they would do such a thing especially since some would already have hotel reservations.

I hope this isn't true. My girlfriend is leaving tomorrow morning for a week at Disney and she is planning on using her FL seasonal pass. How can they extend the blackout dates at the last minute like that? Has anyone else received this email?

I just called Disney at 407 WDISNEY and they stated that the blackout period ends TODAY. Nice Try.

Because unfortunately they can. When you bought your pass in reads, like it does on regular APs: "Parks or attractions may change operating hours; close temporarily due to refurbishing, capacity, inclement weather or special events; and may otherwise change or be discontinued without notice and without liablity to the owners of the Walt Disney World resort."
That gives WDW the freedom to do whatever they please and by purchasing the pass, you signed into this contract.
Does it suck? Hell yeah! Can you call and complain? Hell yeah! Will it help? Probably not, as they can refer you to the FL SP contract that you bought into. If they want, they could outright cancel the program period and you'd be out with no recourse.

I think I'm going to burn my pass in protest! Who needs Disney? I think I'll buy a pass to Cypress Gardens. I mean, what's the difference? I'm tired of being treated like a second class theme park guest just because I live nearby!

Nice joke. :rotfl:

I'm a seasonal passholder....the blackout period ends today. :cool1: I do think it's funny that they'd end the blackout on April Fools Day though; they should've ended it yesterday or tomorrow!

Somebody got me last April Fool's Day here on the DIS so I just had to return the favor. :teeth:
