Blackberry Text Message Questions

I finally got a Blackberry and am trying to figure out how everything works and what the symbols mean. I am looking at my messages folder and there are some text messages that I have sent that have a check mark with a "d" next to it and there are some that just have a check mark. I am assuming that the "d" means delivered. When it doesn't have the "d" does that mean that it has been delivered but not read or the receiver never got it.

I have Verizon and when i send a text to someone else that has Verizon i get the check mark and the d appears when it hits that persons phone. Not necessarily when they open it. I just get a check mark if I am sending it to someone outside of the Verizon network - a d never appears. HTH!

umm...if that is the case then it took almost 10 mins for someone with Verizon to get my message after I sent it. With my old phone it would usually be just about a minute (this is based on how long it would be before the person responded back)

My only beef with my curve is that I never know when I get a text message. They get mixed in with all of my junk mail. I wish there was an icon that would alert me to look for one.

There is probably a way to change that. I can't remember what I did with my Pearl but somehow I was able to change the settings or something (sorry it has been over a year since I did this).

Black berry is the best cell phone i am peral i am using it its really nice i am so much happy its just like computer same way to type sms as you type mail.

Did they not include a "period" on the Pearl's keyboard? :lmao:

Not to hijak the thread, but I have a question about my blackberry too. I have mine set up to relay several e-mail accounts to my phone's inbox. For some reason, I will occasionally get bunches of old e-mails sent to the messages as if they are new messages. This is stuff that is still sitting in my inbox of my e-mail account, but has already been opened and read. It only does it occasionally, and only for certain e-mails but not others. Does anybody know why or how to stop this? It isn't a huge problem, but it's annoying having to open and delete all of these things from the blackberry.

If you click on that button to the left of your trackball while you are in your inbox, look for options and then SMS and Email Inboxes -- if you click on separate, your email messages will just go to your individual email folders rather than your sms inbox. Not sure if that makes sense.

You should have an icon for text messages, and icons for each email address. They all look like white envelopes (at least mine do). If you have them separate in your options, you'll be able to just get your text messages under SMS and your emails under the email icons.

It may be that the receiver of the message did not have their phone on at the time you sent it. With Verizon cell phones, I don't get the check if the other person has theirs off. When they turn it on, the check mark appears. Or they may be in an area that is not getting service.

Thank you! I just changed the setting. Will have to test it out. :)

So I see I have 1 text message, I still have to find it. lol.
