blackberry or android?

Please expand on this!! I've had a BB for 2 years and am going to upgrade in the next week or so. I'm trying to decide on another BB (because I LOVE my BB) or getting an iphone so I can have Disney apps. I don't care about the mp3 part of it, and DS19, who has one, told me wanting a Disney app is not a good excuse to get one. Now I don't knowwhat to get!

I have had Verizon for almost two years now. I have the touch version, and it stinks! You have to keep tapping on the screen to unlock they keys, if that doesn't work, you have to push the side button down to unlock, by the time I have done all of this, I have missed my call! I am going with the Itouch at the end of the contract.

I have both. I have a BB 9700 as my primary phone. I have an iPhone for personal use(work does NOT have this number, LOL). They are both great.

I think if I had to recommend one though, it would be the iPhone. You can get one for $99..its the 3G, not the 3Gs, but they have apps that you can get in the store that will give the 3G a video camera(doesn't come with one).

You can do so much with it...listen to music, watch movies, play games, there are apps to keep you organized. I resisted for a while then I finally drank the Kool-Aid..glad I did.

O, forgot to mention, BBs typically have better battery life than both the iPhone and most of the Android phones. That's one plus to them. As much as I love my iPhone, I don't love charging every night.

I've had a BB Curve (not a Touch Screen) for about a month now and I absolutely love it. My DH scoffed and said that it was too much technology for me, but I've found it to be very user friendly. If I have a question, I just refer to my manual or my DS11 ;).

I have 2 friends who have the iPhone and are very unhappy about their service with AT&T (dropped calls & static). That's why I went with the Blackberry...I love Verizon service. Also, we are State Employees and we get an 18% discount with Verizon. :thumbsup2

I had a BB and it was ok. It didn't do websites very well and I found that to be annoying. Other than that it was an ok phone. From there I went to an iphone and it was ok. I was apprehensive about the change as I wasn't use to the touch screen, but I adjusted. After switching networks I got the Eris and like it better than the iphone. It does not have the keyboard like the Driod, touch screen only. But with a recent update I can now zoom in and out of pages like the iphone. It's slightly smaller than the iphone and weighs a lot less than the Driod. DH actually like smy phone better than his Droid.

Like many other people, I would like to have an iPhone...however, only AT&T has the iPhone, and their network in my area is awful. Having a cool phone isn't so cool when you can't get coverage. :sad2: Never change carriers without asking a LOT of people about how their coverage is with that particular carrier.

I have the Motorola Droid from Verizon Wireless, and I absolutely love it. I previously had the Blackberry Storm (the original one, not the II) and I hated that phone. I took it back before my 30 day period was up. The touch screen was terrible and non-responsive, and even after almost 30 days I didn't get used to it. On the other hand, I got used to the touch screen on my Droid within a day. It's very responsive, intuitive, and easy to use.

Like someone else mentioned, don't forget that you have to pay a $30 data plan with any smart phone, regardless of the carrier. I get plenty of use out of that though, and it's well worth a dollar a day to me.

I check my email (both Gmail and Verizon accounts) on my phone frequently. I use the internet on it quite a bit as well. Texting is super easy with the slide out keyboard. The apps are awesome. I've got all free ones, although there are some you have to pay for. The free ones are working great for me now though. Some of my favorites:

Google Maps (Works like a GPS with turn-by-turn spoken directions and there's no charge. Works just as well as my Garmin Nuvi.)
AK Notepad (Leave myself quick notes, with or without a reminder)
Aldiko (Read free books, mostly classic titles)
Backgrounds (Free wallpapers)
Barcode Scanner and Shop Savvy (Say you're in a store and think you see a good deal...this takes a picture of the barcode and does comparison shopping for you. I just used it in Marshall's today and saw that the baby gate that I bought was over $20 cheaper than elsewhere. Both apps do the same thing, I just haven't figured out which one I like better.)
Calorie Counter (Nutritional info for lots of restaurants and foods, along with a food diary, exercise diary, weight tracker, etc)
Facebook (Darned addicting website!)
Google Sky Map (Point your phone at the night sky, and it will show you which constellations, etc that you're looking at. If you move the phone, it moves with you. Very cool.)
Music apps like I Heart Radio, Pandora, Slacker Radio, etc (I plug in my headphones and listen to music while I'm at work. I also like to plug it into my car stereo and it plays through my speakers....kind of like satellite radio with no commercials, but free.)
Shazam (Hear a song and don't know the title or artist? Start up Shazam, let it listen for about 15-20 seconds, and it will come back and tell you the title/artist of the song. Simply amazing technology.)
Weather Channel (self explanatory)
Pkt Auctions Ebay (bid on auctions from your phone)
Tip Calc (tip calculator)
USA Today (read the news)
TV.com (watch full episodes of certain TV shows on your phone)
Where (multi-function app...shows the weather, news, yellow pages, movies, gas prices, etc)
Movies (movie show times and reviews)
You Tube
YZ Free (Yahtzee game...the only game I play but I'm addicted to it.)
Voice Search (Don't feel like typing? Just speak what you're looking for and this will look it up on the internet.)
Advanced Task Killer (Your phone will be speedier if you occasionally close down applications you aren't using. This does it quickly and easily.)

I have a BB curve for work and a Droid for personal use. I love both of them. I your primary use is email and texting then the BB is best. If you plan to use the internet more then get the Droid. My BB is AT&T which has terrible service in my are and the call quality is poor. I don't know if the call quality is b/c of the service or the phone.

I love the navigation system on the Droid. It saved me from getting a Nav system on my new car!

this app listing is very helpful...does BB have the same or very similar apps. I have done a little looking through the BB app site. Do your apps show up as an icon on your screen, so you can shortcut to it easily? Does the droid have a calendar or datebook function?

I only had my BB for less than a month, but I would think that many of the same apps are available...not sure though. Yes, they show up as an icon on the screen. Yes, the Droid has a calendar/datebook function.

I just got a blackberry curve and DH got a Motorola Droid, last month I had to get the blackberry for work, but I am jeoulous of DH's Droid, more free apps and better screen size and plus he has a touch screen and a keypad. He does have the barcode scanning, GPS... I agree it would be great to have an iphone, but we will not switch carriers.

What I don't like as much about my blackberry, screen size is small. Some websites will not support the screen size. Camera resolution is not good as the Droid and I am still getting use the the qwerty(sp) keypad. Don't like to have to swift to get to numbers when typing a text, but I am sure I will get use to it.

But what I have learned from others is the software & hardware is very reliable on a blackberry. I don't know this for a fact.

Download the Opera Mini browser for your Curve. It works really well and is so much easier to navigate sites than with the browser that came with my Curve.

Can you tell me a bit more about it? What makes the navigation easier? Will it completely change the layout? I finally learned where everything is and I don't want to switch it around now. Where do you find it to download it (sorry if that's a dumb question but I'm new to all of this)? ;)

You use the keypad to easily zoom in and out. it focuses on one part of the website to make it easier to read. I found bookmarking to be easier. It's free!

I think I just had it emailed to my phone from their website:
