Black tap opening?

I am baffled that Ballast Point opened before this place. WTH is going on?

Seriously! It was almost 18 months ago that they announced the opening of this place that was supposed to open last year.

Its been a couple of weeks so just wanted to circle back on this. Any update on the Black Tap opening? Have any DL regulars seen progress on it? We were hoping to eat here on our late May trip. I would guess they'd want it open in time for Star Wars crowds?!

Peeked in last Saturday again. It’s still all concrete and work lights in there. It’s a big empty concrete space and doesn’t look close to opening to me. I don’t know anything about construction or how long it takes to “build” a restaurant, but I would be surprised if it was open in a few weeks.

Says they’re opening soon. Still doesn’t have a date (and they said the same thing last year!) but when I went by the other day it looked like a lot of work had been done inside. Hard to tell because they had most of it hidden behind a curtain, but definitely progress. If you’re hoping for May, you just might get lucky! Of course, how long the waits will be is another story!!

Actually in Orange County, it is usually health department inspections that hold up restaurants.

I was in DTD Saturday and saw what appeared to be (future?) black tap employees walking around. They had black tap shirts on and paper name tags. I didn’t think to stop and try to look a progress on the restaurant but from the outside everything looks the same as it has for months

I saw this on Facebook yesterday and we got very excited because we'll be there in July. 'Soon' could easily be August or even later, but fingers crossed.

One of the DL food accounts I follow on Instagram posted photos of the signs now up at Black Tap. They said that they haven't heard an opening date either, but when the Ballast Point signs went up, it opened two weeks after that!

I saw on Instagram that they’re having their soft opening this weekend. Nothing official from them, but plenty of sources “in the know”. In any case, they have an official IG page now and they started posting today.

They have really good burgers. Well atleast the Vegas location does. Can't wait to check it out!

Was there yesterday and it’s all but open, plenty of staff on site, furniture in, just not open yet

I’d say soft opening Friday / this weekend for sure

They are having a private event right now! But the cm said she didn’t know when it would open to the public. Since they’re already serving though I’d expect any day now.

You order at the register and they give you a number where they serve your food to you. They also have a to-go window outside for shakes only.

Some of their prices are not bad but then again others are crazy high. 17 dollars for a milk shake is pretty stupid. 1 dollar to add onion to your burger? Come on Black Tap...
