Black Hole = Racist term?

As Robin said...why not just call people - PEOPLE!!

I am so so so so sick of people trying to be uber PC.

Just you wait...I had better not hear the phrase "white out" this winter or Im going to raise holy heck! :rotfl2:

Whenever someone tells me "That's blackmail" I tell them "NO, it's blackFEmale!!!" :rotfl:

It's a JOKE folks... ;)

These terminologies have been around much longer than the term was used for the Black race, if people would take a moment to educate themselves they wouldn't waste their anger on so much silliness.

Oh crud..I didn't even REALIZE I was offending sheep..moreover BLACK SHEEP because they were being left out.

That's it. Now I gotta teach my kids to say "THIS FREAKIN SUCKS!"

As previous posters have said just call people - PEOPLE. Why is it even important to include the race in a sentence when describing somone???? I don't and my kids have been taught to describe people without the use of race. It's either "that boy" or "that lady". They are now 6 and 9 and we have not had any issues and I know exactly what they are talking about.

There is always going to be someone or something that has a problem with something - that's life. And it really doesn't matter what people call you to your face - :confused3

I agree. My grandmother used to refer to my friend as my 'nigro friend' but she didn't refer to my other friend as 'my tall white friend' or anything other than "Sara".

Why do we have to describe this way? I'm positive we can think up some other way to describe or refer without using color or race as a backing. *sigh*

Wait...you wouldn't be making a disparaging remark about folks with an oral fixation would you. ;)

Kojak might be offended...

I'm a social worker and was working in a long-term care facility years ago, working on getting a patient discharged to an assisted living facility. I was working with her relatives and they had one place in mind and did not want to look into other options. I remember saying not to "put all of your eggs in one basket." Well, the patient's sister went BALLISTIC, yelling and cursing at me, and she actually reported me to my supervisor, saying I had offended her. I have NO idea what this woman THOUGHT that meant, but it was obvious that she had no clue what I was trying to say...:confused3

Ignorance is bliss.

How ridiculous... how did something this stupid even MAKE the news??? :surfweb:

Even more ridiculous is that thought popping into their heads and then coming out of their mouths.

But I must say I'm not surprised.

When you're trying to explain a situation or story to someone, sometimes the persons race, weight, height, ethnicity, clothing, etc. is relevant to the conversation. People need to stop being so darn touchy. If someone described me as an overweight or fat white lady, well, so be it. Nothing there that's not true. BTW, I tried being PC once and mentioned in conversation the term African American (which I thought was the new PC acceptable term) to which they took offense because they were from one of the Islands and got PO'd because they weren't "African".

Somewhat OT here, but my biggest pet peeve is why aren't people just happy being American anymore? I have Irish, German and English heritage but you know what, it's been generations since anyone in my family came over from anywhere. I'm not Irish American, or German American, I'm just American. (Or why can't I be American Irish, or American German?) Last year for school my daughter was supposed to dress in the colors of her heritage and bring in food from her heritage. Well, after many years of dressing in green and bringing in Irish soda bread, etc. I put my foot down and told her she was dressing in red, white and blue and bringing in hot dogs. Know what? Everyone, children, teacher and parents, thought it was a fabulous idea.

Okay, getting off my high horse now (hope that wasn't offensive to any of our equine friends) :rotfl:
