I'm thinking of getting my nieces an e-reader, either a Nook or Kindle, for Christmas. I see Target is having the Nook for $50. I'm wondering if anyone knows or has purchased on BF in the past... will this be an online offer also? or Have you seen any other deals for either of these anywhere? I'm not finding much, I'm assuming because I just want the basic e-reader, not a tablet type thing.

In Sears's Black Friday Ad, they are advertising the NOOK Simple Touch for $39.99! Thats a really good price and $10 cheaper than the Target BF Ad.

If you don't plan on shopping Sears, you can take the ad to your local Walmart and have them Price Match it. In fact, since the Sears ad states their sale starts at 8pm on Thurs and Walmart will be open all day Thurs, you could probably pop in after 8pm, get the pricematch and then go on your way :)

Excellent!! THANKS!! I was hoping to find something online, I hate the crowds, but may have to fight them this year :scared:

Target may or may not do the offer online. The sears ad says the offer is only in store, but in the past I've been able to get in store only items online Thanksgiving Day, however; I live in MA and stores are not allowed to be open on Thanksgiving which may be why.

ETA - also, Amazon has been posting some Kindles on their Lightning deals this week so keep and eye on those over the weekend and next week. Barnes and Noble's BF prices have not yet been released. They may have a deal on the Nook on BF. Also, Target sometimes will price match their own ads - so if you go in on Wed buy the Nook at full price and then go back BF in the evening after the crowds die they will give you the difference. Check with your store to see their policy. I'm planning on buy the Nook at Target because my store does match their own ads and with my Red card discount the price will be worth the extra cost of not standing in line at Walmart or at Sears.

Nook and Kindle are not interchangeable. Do you know if she already has purchase ebooks from either B&N or Amazon? I would check before I chose one. Kindle is Amazon and the Nook is Barnes & Noble.

Thank you and Thank you :) I'll see if I can find anything out about our Target, if they'll me any info. I have been watching the lightening deals on Amazon, saw something posted on another forum about a deal one day, but I didn't see the deal come up... of course until today I wasn't really looking either!

I do know the Nook and Kindle are different, I prefer the Kindle, it's what I have, but the girls don't have anything at all so it won't matter. I'm going for the cheapest I can find. I would love to get them Kindle Fires but there's just no way. I don't spend that much on anyone for the holidays! One is graduating this year and I really wanted to do it because of that, then I couldn't think of anything anywhere near as good for her sister so 2 it is! :rolleyes1
