Black Friday Buddies 2011 Unite!

I am excited that the stores are opening at midnight. I would rather shop and then come and go to sleep rather than sleep for a few hours and then have to get up and hit the stores! I cannot wait to shop!!!! :cool1:

I'm really not liking the midnight thing. I love being able to go out at 4am and hit staggered store openings, stay out til lunch shopping and enjoying the atmosphere (as crazy as it is!)

Now I feel like I'm going to have to sacrifice one for the other. I don't know if I can do midnight AND early morning. And I don't want to sleep all morning Friday and miss the rush!

I like the midnight openings. It tends to work better for my family (can shop and mom can still be to work at 8am). im looking for a convection oven and some cheap gifts for my aunts kids.

To prepare for the holidays we used to have what we called 'floor set days' where staff would report at 10pm and work til 5am right before Thanksgiving. We'd also get paid time and a half for those hours regardless of whether we hit 40 or not. The store wasn't open during those times so we'd show up in tennis shoes, sweat shirts and track pants, put on some great tunes and set up all night. It was a lot of fun opening up the new holiday stuff, dressing the mannequins etc. .
we did this when I was working at Sears. The best part was setting off all the fire trucks in the toy alse.....

nope, I'm with you on this one. I'm really bummed about the midnight thing. I don't like it at all. I like getting up early to stand in line with a bunch of strangers in the freezing cold. Now I don't know if I want to just stay up to go out after Thanksgiving dinner. I think that it will just make the crowds be a lot more this year and I don't know if I want to deal with that. It makes me super anxious to be around that many people fighting and pushing. It might be an online year for me. Sad to break tradition.

I agree!!! With the stores opening so early, it's just gonna have alot more peopel out there that wouldn't normally be there. Messes everything up. I also like bonding with the diehard BF shoppers at 3am:)

I agree. I don't normally go out on BF because I don't want to get up early, wait in lines and deal with the craziness. If the stores open at Midnight I'd go out since I'd already be awake anyway and then I could sleep late in the morning.

I am needing to get a 32GB Ipod Touch this year. Right now Target has a 10% of Ipod coupon out and if you buy the 32 you get a $20 GC. I'm not sure if I should just get it now or wait until BF now that they are opening at midnight.

Where is the coupon for the 10% off? I need an ipod this year too

Thanks! We are going to be out of town, and I'm not sure I want to go not being familiar with the area and such. I'm scared I will waste more time and get frustrarted than anything KWIM

I do know what you mean. I was out of town once and went with my daughter. I wasn't familiar with the store layouts, and it was harder to get things accomplished. But, my daughter was a big help, so all was not lost.

I do not like shopping online because I hate paying shipping and waiting for the packages to arrive. I guess it is an option for that long wait though! :goodvibes

Usually the shipping is free for BF and a lot of times beyond BF. Also, many stores let you order online and pick it up at the store later with no shipping costs to you.

This was my thought exactly. So many people won't get up early, but they will stay up late to shop. I think it will be a nightmare! Plus, in a snobby sort of way, I think the rookies will get in our way!:rotfl:

I look at the midnight openings as evening EMH at Disney. Lots of people stay for those, while a lot fewer are willing to get up early for the early EMH. Right?

can ANYONE get the wal-mart super saturday sale ad to come up? i've used several different zip codes within 75 miles of my home, and it keeps telling me they don't have an ad available for my area! how can they advertise a sale TOMORROW with no ad?

I am also concerned that the midnight openings are going to make things more crowded and bring out the amatures who will slow us "Pros" down. :lmao:

oy vey - I forgot - I'm also going out of town for Thanksgiving, did this 2 years ago, and it was odd, not only did I not know the layout of the stores - they were much farther apart than in my hometown!! (Kohls Sam's Club next door, 2 blocks away WalMart and Target are next door to each other - across the street, the mall!)

and now a midnight opening? Great, we're up so early Thanksgiving morning getting the turkey down, the night before Thanksgiving we're up late getting pies baked...

oh well, sleep is highly over rated!

I'm liking that CVS ad.....

Snuggies 2 for $10?! I think DH and I need matching Snuggies....

....omg what is the world coming to? :scared1:

Does anyone know (or remember) what sales the Disney Store online had during BF or the weekend last year? I really want a Disney Dooney and right now they have parks merchandise 25% off, but if there's a possibility BF will have additional discounts I'll take my chances and wait.

Updated first page with links to more ads. I think Sears is the first big one released. Toys r Us is having another Door Buster sale this weekend however I can't get the ad to load properly from their website so I can't see all of the items on sale only the first page.
