Black-Eyed Susans

I know Black-Eyed Susans are a summer flowering plant. BUT...What should I see growing NOW?....if anything...?

Transplanted a whole lot of them last Fall from SIL's house prior to her move and I see NOTHING in the area where I put them.

I have very low to the ground foliage coming up, Tulirose. Just leaves. It'll be awhile before anything else happens with black eyed susies!

Tulirose your area is a little warmer then me and I would think they would be sprouting their little leaves by now.

They are in the coneflower family all mine are sprouting. The last thing to sprout in my garden is the Balloon Flower and they are just breaking ground.

I really don't know what to tell you. I would wait another week, see if anything is happening then dig around the plant a little. This winter was warm by N.E. standards, that kind of weather can be deadly for perennials. They are heaved out of the ground, then the cold kills them. Putting down a mulch in the fall (leaves, pine needles) sometimes stops this from happening.

I was surprised to see this thread, as I was just noticing them around here yesterday. a local drugstore at the top of my hill has a million of them blooming in the summer, when I made a trip up there last evening, I noticed them growing and the size of them. Pretty good size so far.
I sure hope you get some, keep us posted.
I noticed I lost a couple things. 2 of my maiden grass don't seem to be doing anything, 1 of my Russian Sage also, while the others are growing fast.

Yay! I found some! There is one grouping of leaves doing really well, however, this is the group planted the year prior. BUT, using my intelligence, I examined those leaves carefully and noted the shape and color and the way they are growing and went to the other area and examined the ground closely. Again, I did not prepare the ground very well (a trait I seem to have) and there is grass and weeds and other stuff growing, but as I look REAL CLOSE, I found some of the same type of leaves growing as the big grouping!! They SURVIVED!!! Anyway, I have a feeling, I might have put them in the wrong spot. They need a lot of sun, right? If they need ALOT of sun, I might have to move them but I'm gonna wait first and see how they do. This is exciting!
