Black Eyed Peas audience dance on Oprah today!

meh. It looked cool and all, but it was totally staged. If I were one of the real fans stuck a block and a half away from the stage because the front was full of a bunch of "viral dancers" I would be really PO'd.

I think most of them were real fans. There was definitely a front bunch who were the paid dancers, thn the regular fans were interspersed amoung the dancers. And the further back, the more regular people.

The producers probably had an open call for people who were willing to dance and be on TV for the Oprah show. Just from seeing on the news when there are open calls here in NYC for American Idol and Tyra Banks had one for America's Next Top Model, the lines go literally down and around a couple blocks.

In fact, there wasn't enough security at the last Next Top Model auditions and it turned into a mob scene where girls got trampled (or something,) and they had to cancel & reschedule the auditions when the NYPD would be present. :cool2:

I'm sure there are just as many people (fans) in Chicago who would turn out for an open call to be on international TV.

Oh I am so disappointed! I just loved it the first time and had DVR'd it, but when we switched to TiVo we had to lose it. I would have loved to TiVo it. DH and I played it over and over when we had it.

BTW, of course it was rehearsed by the dancers - they even said that on the show. Oprah may not have known about it in advance though.

awwww, it takes the cool out of it to know it was all rehearsed. i suspected the group in the front were pros, but was hopeful everyone else just got into it and was following along the best they could. i'm with the PP who said i'd be pretty ticked if i was pushed blocks away from a street concert by a group of professional dancers for what amounts to a publicity stunt.

No no.... I don't think they were in any way "professional" dancers. Just regular folks, maybe even "real" BEP fans, who got wind of this thing they could participate in and they simply showed up. The moves were somehow communicated to them beforehand (perhaps email, etc.) and they ran through it once or twice for a little rehearsal. It was positively planned, but it wasn't "professional" by any means. Does that make sense?

Frankly, a *real* fan, would be one of the first to know about it and to be involved, you know? I've received Bon Jovi notifications for tv-related stuff (Today show, Daytona 500 etc. Nothing like this though!)

makes total sense, thanks :) that makes it pretty cool, if it was planned by the fans, and not oprah, her staff or the BEP.

From overhead in the rehearsal at a HUGE gym, seems to be of all the Groups, music starts after some instruction...

Regardless of how it was accomplished, getting that many people to move in unison is an amazing feat. The rehearsal doesn't bother me, all the flash-mobs that have dancing almost have to have some rehearsal, like the T-Mobile stuff in Europe or the "100 Girls" who did "Single Ladies" in (I think) Trafalgar Square. About the only ones that wouldn't require rehearsals would be a "frozen mob" where a crowd of people simply stop moving for a certain amount of time in a public space.

But to me Oprah looks a little too TOO amazed... And did anybody else notice the Big O dropping what sounded like the f-bomb in the video? Sure sounds like she says "oh my ****ing God" at one point :confused3 ...

agnes!

I noticed that Agnes! and honestly, this style of dancing is very similar to line dancing which I do. And yes, it's very easy to learn the steps, with a new dance I can watch it twice, fumble thru twice and then by the third time I have it down. I'm sure there were fans and pros in there dancing.
