There is a clip of what can only be described as a viral audience dance :dance3: during the Black Eyed Peas performance on Oprah.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVQorfIX84w

If you missed it back when it first airred in Sept, or want to see it on your larger TV, in addition to seeing it on Youtube, it's on today's Oprah.

For those who are Tivo/DVRing it, it starts at about the 20 minute mark. :happytv: Stay tuned for the audience remarks afterwards.

(Anyone who's ever attended a Tony Robbins' event, knows the joy of being a part of this kind of audience participation & celebration.) :woohoo:  :cool1: :yay:

I just saw it for the 1st time~it was amazing. I taped it for my dd to see it later.

ps this was my 1000th post!!!

Congrats! :dance3: Another reason to get up and dance again.

I'm going to tape it later. It re-airs at 1 am here. I want a nice big copy to replay. :happytv:

I wish I had known that it was going to be on again today! I watched it when it was on originally and loved it! I made DH watch it too because I thought it was so cool

Just saw this on Oprah's show today. It was so cool to watch and hear the people who participated and their comments. Thanks for posting this - I wouldn't have known it was on today and would have missed it. :thumbsup2

That was awesome!! Thank you so much for sharing it; I never am able to watch daytime TV, I just hear about it after ;)

wow! I love watching these. Thank you for posting it!:)

we had a flash mob at our mall just before Xmas. If I had known ahead of time, I would have been there. It looks like so much fun!!!!

:wizard:

And now this song is stuck in my head again.
But seriously, that was so cool.

WOW, that was too cool....but....how'd they do that:confused3

They rehearsed. Oprah is so funny...she has this "gosh-darn/what a surprise!" look on her face, but it was all rehearsed.

Still is cool though.
agnes!

I agree. I thought it was the coolest thing, but Oprah is a bad liar!

They never addressed HOW people knew the dance moves. And if they rehearsed, she'd have to be brain dead not to notice.

Plus....apart from her work in The Color Purple, she is a bad actor

I loved it though!

Was the audience filled with flash mobbers? Oprah's usual audience doesn't seem to have the kind of...err...constitutional fortitude to pull off a dance like that without collapsing.

IN - Flash Mob
OUT - Crowd Surfing

Ahhhh, thank you. I should have realized. I'm sooo dense, I was thinking, WOW, how did they all know those dance moves so well to be so in sync with each other.....DUH ...

And yes, Oprah tries to look so surprised :happytv:

You all are aware that Oprah doesn't have to be there for the rehearsals, right? She wasn't part of the dance segment. And since she's been hosting for 25 years, she knows where to stand on stage when it's her turn to be on.

Also, if you've ever danced with a crowd or have followed cheerleaders moves along the sidelines, it's actually not that hard to follow what the person in front of you is doing. You may do it a millisecond behind, but basically it's copying the guy in front of you. It's also known as matching and mirroring.

I mentioned in the OP that if anyone has ever been to a Tony Robbins live seminar, they've experienced the same thing. I staff a lot of the events around the country. After the first day, the audience gets so excited and empowered about their own life, after learning many of the skills & techniques, that they are dancing and following the moves of the dancers & coaches on stage. :cool1: We make them purposely easy so people can follow along. They are literally dancing and celebrating themselves, :dance3: their own wins, not some sports team's win. :woohoo:

meh. It looked cool and all, but it was totally staged. If I were one of the real fans stuck a block and a half away from the stage because the front was full of a bunch of "viral dancers" I would be really PO'd.
