Black-eyed peas, anyone?

Yep, we did it as always. We often substitute cabbage for collards, but this year had butterbeans and brussel sprouts for our greens.

Yep, black eye peas with onions, garlic and a ham bone, grilled chicken breast, collards, corn, buttermilk cornbread and sweet tea.

We were invited to a friends house for New Years eve. The tradition for money here is to eat pork (it seemed to be more like a sliced kielbasa) cooked in lentils. I ate alot of it. We need the money.

We did, my husband, who had never heard of the tradition, wanted to know why it couldn't have been a New Year's Day Lasagna tradition!! I made a lasagna just for him, he ate all the other stuff too! Happy New Years ya crazy greens eating southerners!!! (I'm one too!)

Did the jowl have a tooth in it? :rotfl2:
My Granddaddy used to say that the tooth brought the best luck but I must admit I've only once seen a pigs jowl on head at the butcher and never a jowl with a tooth in it!

Ick! No it didn't! Honestly, I'm not really sure what a hog jowl is (or a hock for that matter), and I"d like to keep it that way, thank you very much! :headache:

Had black eyed peas yesterday too - I have to force myself to eat them - I can't stand them! :sad2:
