BL challenge ~ BLUE TEAM ~ week 5

Just popping in to say hi! Thursday is my birthday so today my family and I went on our annual St. Louis trip. I thought I was doing well until I tested my blood sugar on the way home. For the second time this week it was in the 200's. That is the threshold for diabetes, and that's not good! I see my doc again in December and I'm hoping I can hold out that long.

Hi Blue Team!

We made it home from our mini vacation. We had a great time.

I didn't gain and I didn't lose this week. I'm okay with that since we ate out for every meal while we were out of town. I ordered chicken dishes or salads for every meal and we did a lot of walking. I did tangle with some taffy one day but I think all of the walking must have balanced it out.

I earned 65 COW points this week. I did the realage test and my realage is 1.3 years more than my biological age. :scared: That was a bummer but I'm committed to change it.

I hope everyone has super weight loss week! GO BLUE!!

Lea

Howdy!
I had no gain or loss this week and find myself quite frustrated...but I will continue to plug along! I exercised like crazy and drank lots of water. I was having soup for lunch each day and so maybe it was the sodium that prevented the loss??

Hang in there everyone....and thanks for all your posts - they are so helpful. It means so much to know that I am not the only one struggling with this weight loss battle!!

You've got a great attitude! Just hanging on through the plateaus can be so frustrating, but by plugging along, you will make it! I kow what you mean about reading all of the posts, it sure helps keep you motivated.

So I think I am up 3 pounds. I have been bad about actually reporting in. It being on a Friday is throwing me for a loop. According to the real age test I am 3 years younger then my age. Not sure how that is but I'll take it.

I need to start walking or doing other exercise. I need to figure out how to fit it in. I need to drink my water and carry breakfast, lunch and dinner with me some days. Lunch everyday.

GOOOOOOOOOOOO Blue.
Sorry about the gain, but on the upside you are 3 years younger! Once you get that walking worked into your schedule, then I know you will be seeing losses. it is hard to find the time to exercise, but you are worth it!:flower3:

I did not intend to make you nervous. Most airlines are OK about this. Since Southwest is one of the cheapo non seat assigning airlines they are more strict. We have never flown them before but DH wanted to this time because you can check two bags with no extra fees. He is going to do some electrical work at a friends house in the area and will be taking a bag with his tools in it. At least the friend is picking us up at the airport, letting us use one of her cars, and letting us stay with her while we are there. She is one of his internet girlfriends. He has many. I have to keep an eye on him, wink!

What airline are you flying? I'm sure you will fine.

Oh, I know you didn't, but rather you were sharing your story. It will be ok, I'll put up the seat rest immediately, and pray for a long seatbelt, otherwise I'll ask for one. I did tell DH that it is a possibility... maybe I'll ask him to ask for it!:rotfl: We are flying American Airlines. And WOW is the flight booked! there are only 2 seats left. Indiana schools are off for fall break, so I bet a lot of them are going to be coming up to O'hare to fly out. HOpe it won't be too crowded at WDW.:crowded:

I did lose 1.5 lbs this week, but have been really struggling with staying on track. Thank you all for your openess and support in good weeks and bad- the Blue team is AWESOME!

Congrats on the loss!:thumbsup2 Just stay strong and try to focus on losing a bit more next week, hopefully that will keep you motivated to stay on track.

Princess Vija you are a wonderful person and you are going to have a great trip!

This morning I fixed an omelette with mushrooms, ham and cheese. I'm still full so lunch will be very lite. After I cleaned up the kitchen I went and walked/jogged 2 miles then rode my bike around to try to cool down.

Everyday is a new day - Go Blue! - Lisa
THanks, that is very sweet!:cutie: Way to go on great food choices and getting in a lot of exercise! That is awesome!:thumbsup2

Hi Blue Team!

I lost a pound this week...not great, but still a loss. It sounds like a lot of you are struggling right now. I want you to remember that we magnify our own flaws far more than others do. When you look at your best friend, do you see her flaws, or do you see the collection of all of the things that you love about her? I challenge you to take a conscious moment to do that for yourself the next time you look in the mirror. Don't mentally point out all of your flaws, but point all of the things your best friend would say she loves about you (I would say the things you love about yourself, but it's way to easy to say there's nothing)! Look at the amazing motivation that you are providing to the people on this board. Princess Vija inspires me with her confidence in competing in that tournament. Hypermommy makes me laugh and reminds me to work hard without taking myself too seriously. All of our runners out there make me think that someday I might be able to do that too. You've all given something of yourselves to this board, and I want you to be proud of yourselves!

Have a fantastic week. Go Blue!!!

That was a very motivating post, and very sweet!!! Thanks! You are so right, I thought of my dearest friend, and my heart smiled right away, because she truly is a wonderful person. I didn't think of her flaws, and I don't even want to waste the time to do so, because she is so dear to me. Now, with that in mind.... WOW, what an image, why would I waste my precious time to count up my flaws? I don't think that is very productive, and certainly not good for the old self esteem. I think it is better to keep building up ourselves. THANKS for a great, insightful post!:goodvibes

I live in Europe. I have to do WW online.

ETA: I do measure everything. I am enjoying a few drinks this weekend and trying not to let it bother me that they are 'extra points'

This is actually an EASY question for me! After I did the Jillian workout today (6th straight day in a row babaaaay!) I ran up the stairs to answer the phone. RAN. I woke up today and did not GROAN when my feet hit the stairs. I had no pain. Amazing.

Well, since you are already measuring everything, that eliminates that question. How are you doing? Are you changing up your points? And WOW, is that great news about running up the stairs. I'll bet that felt great!:yay:

QOTD Friday: Whilst I was apologizing to my boss for under-dressing for work with my soccer gear for my half day before we left for our tournament, she said "girl, I don't blame you for wearing your soccer shirt-it looks good on you and I can tell the WW is working"

I didn't hit the scale today since we are out of town in a hotel for a soccer tourney... we tied our first game and won the second today. I coach my U13 daughter's team. GO SPIRIT!

NOW THAT IS AWESOME!!!! Wear that shirt proudly! And congrats on your DD's soccer team win. That is wonderful that you are coaching. I'll bet she will have great memories of the time spent together.

The trophy is amazing Vija - soooo big.

And you are amazing too.

I hear you on the airplane seats, I am not looking forward to it either end of November.

I cannot believe that they charge for two seats at some airlines. That is insulting.

Airplanes, however, are not made for big folks, I feel like the Goodyear blimp on them.

I gained weight this week folks - and I feel bad.

I did not get to WW, but I weighed in at the gym, with my shoes on, after dinner (usually do none of these things), but I am up at least 4 pounds.

Just wanted to be accountable. Don't think I remembered to write Brenda on Friday though - it was very hectic then.

And... for us Canadians, Monday is Thanksgiving, and I am having DH's family for dinner. Heaven help me.

Did manage at least 45 COW points though.

Long walk tomorrow, hoping to get 5 - 6 miles in, we will see.

Have a magical losing weekend everyone...

Linda

Way to go on getting in some COW points, and being accountable. I don't know about you, but for me when I was accountable it took quite a bit of the burden off of me. I felt "freer" somehow to continue on with losing weight and working the plan. hang in there, work your plan and those 4# will come off before you know it. Good luck on Monday. What are the traditions associated with Thanksgiving in Canada?

You are such a great leader!!:goodvibes Thank you so much for being so supportive of everyone including me:goodvibes It means a lot!

I loved the picture with the Trophy! Pretty cool!

My dh wanted so much to buy a nissan maxima years ago...we went to test drive it and I couldn't drive it...I just didn't fit:sad2: I think it really hit me hard...I know it's hard for others to understand but I really had no idea how much I needed my new lifestyle.

You are doing so great with your weight loss...if you need an extender this time just think about how great it will be next time when you don't:thumbsup2

This is easy:goodvibes The fact that I posted:goodvibes A few weeks ago I know I would never have:rolleyes1

  I really hope you have no problem with your plane ride...they just don't understand how hard this is on you...and it should never be done in a public display of anyway to cause embarrassment to you or your love ones...if this is required of you hopefully they have enough respect for you as a customer to do it in a very polite manner.

Thank you for your kind words! I hope that there won't be any embarassment with the plane ride, but if there is, I'll just have to move on... and keep losing so I don't have to worry about it ever again. I can totally relate to the new car thing. We are looking at getting a new SUV somtime next year. And the one I tried out, I was so squished... I hate that! But, we are all working on making changes and I know we will do great!

Oh boy, first of all, I hope you had a great trip with your family. And an early happy birthday to you! As far as your testing goes, keep working your food plan and hopefully you will work down from those high blood sugar numbers. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hey you did awesome on your trip. Maintaining while on vacation is a great accomplishment! AND you got 65 cow points! WAY TO GO!:thumbsup2

Yesterday we all tried on our costumes for MNSSHP, it was so much fun, I didn't want to take my dress off!:lmao: And we tried out our face paint to make us look zombie-ish. Next I have to add spiders to our clothes and worms. The only problem is, we picked up plastic worms at a fishing store and they SMELL! I guess it would only enhance our Haunted Mansion outfits!:lmao:

I am getting so excited for our trip. Last year I think I gained 3# while gone. Even with all of the walking we did, I guess the Food and Wine Festival did me in. I hope to just maintain this year, but as long as I don't go over last years gain, I'll consider it a victory!;)

Went for a long walk this morning and now we are going to subway for lunch. and then when we get back, I'll DIS some more on the theme parks board, can't wait to go....!!!!!:wizard:

Hey, where is everyone!!!!:confused3 Please post and say hi!

And remember, Please post your mini triumphs, they are what the building blocks of healthy living are made of!

The QOTD's for this week come courtesy of Black team's goldcupmom. THANKS!:goodvibes

QOTD for Monday: Where do you live? country, city, sate, Region... whichever you feel comfortable sharing!

Sorry I haven't been on more this past week. It's been crazy between travelling and having an out of commission (sp?) computer I haven't really had a chance to be a good co-captain and give everybody individual replies. I'm back at my apartment and borrowing a laptop from my parents while Geek Squad tries to figure out what is wrong with my computer. I promise to be better this week. I hope everyone is having a wonderful OP week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another win.

Hey, don't worry about it, you have had some stuff going on, and you need to take care of you! You are a great co-captain!:goodvibes

Did you have fun on your trip? You mentioned that it was an annual trip for your birthday, is there anything that you traditionally do as well on your trip? Hope the computer problems get worked out.:surfweb:

Well, I am up and wide awake. I got up just a bit ago at 3:30 AM:scared1: For months now, I have had a hard time sleeping. I get up alot in the middle of the night (not to go to the bathroom), just wake up WIDE awake. It is so frustrating. It doesn't happen every night, but VERY often. And now with our Disney trip coming up, I have a feeling that from the excitement I will be up alot!:rotfl:

Of to read the planning boards....:surfweb:

Hey everyone!! I have lot 4lbs this week and I'm excited!! Only partly because I couldn't eat because of my wisdome teeth. I'm hoping to have the money for it this week and get it pulled.

I had kinda of a bad weekend as far as eating, but I'm hoping to get back on track this week!!

See ya soon!!!

Wow, Vija sure was up early !! So I've learned recently the body can be a funny thing. When I weighed in on Fri morning, I was up 3.5 lbs! I was not happy...so I waited until I got home from work to report to Brenda...but my weight was the same in the p.m. so I had to report the 3.5 gain. I was quite frustrated...not that I had a perfect week with my food choices -- but I certainly didn't think I would gain like that. On Saturday morning the scale called my name...I was down the 3.5 lbs!!! Happy but why not the day before? But I did learn from that--not too get sooo frustrated that you stop watching what you are doing since the body can fluctuate so quickly. So I started Saturday feeling like I had a maintain even though the report will show a gain! But I'm ok with that because mentally it was a good way to begin the weekend (rather than feeling like the gain was a free pass to eat!)

Because of the gain on Fri I started thinking about my week. And one thing I did realize..shame on me. I got a new water mug at work. For some reason I was thinking the mug was 18 oz so I only had to drink a little less than 4 of them for my 64 oz. HOWEVER, I double checked the mug on Friday...it was only 9 oz. So I was not even drinking 1/2 of my water! I thought it was going down really fast and easy. Oops. I now know I have to drink about 7 of the mugs until I find a bigger one--7 just sounds like too many to drink!

Here's to Monday :cheer2:

I didn't see the question of the day when I posted....

My "real" name is Linda and I live in Cleveland, Ohio. Born and raised. Living in Cleveland you get used to cold, snowy weather and cheering for sport teams that only make it so far! But really, we like it here. However, would love to relocate to Virigina or North Carolina. While the kids were growing up we traveled alot to VA and NC--and ultimately would like to retire there. Thanks to my brother and sis-in-law we have become Disney World fans but for us that's a place to "visit" not live...keeps the excitement. Have gone 3 times to WDW; most recently in June 08. Went on our first Disney cruise (Magic) last Sept. for my brother's 50th bday. And the four of us (all of our kids are grown) have decided that as each of us turn 50 we will cruise. So I'm really glad the my sis-in-law will turn 50 in January because we get to go again--January 17, 2009 on the Magic. Well, that's a little off topic but just thought I'd share.

Happy Birthday -Jess - I hope you enjoyed your trip and get your computer problems solved.

babydisney - great loss this week! WTG!

Sparky47 - good luck with the water thing. Cups can be so tricky and the up and down of daily flucuations frustrating!

Vija - good luck on the sleep thing - as a fellow insomniac - I know how it can be - the mind just won't shut down - which usually leaves me wanting a glass of wine before bed just to relax - but trying really hard to limit the wine only for weekends. The rest of the whine in my house is usually by Dh & kids:rotfl:

QOTD
for Monday - I live in Moorestown, NJ - just outside of Philadelphia- home of Cheesesteaks and Tastykakes.... Originally from the Seattle, WA area but moved because of DH's job.

Mini-triumph -went apple picking at a farm with the kids and did NOT buy my favorite hot apple cider doughnuts - in fact I wouldn't even go near the building where they sell them - gave the kids money and concentrated on doing the corn maze several times for extra activity.

Have a great week blue!

Hi everyone,

Didn't get on the boards again on Friday and totally missed the link. So today I get on and there's already 4 pages. I must admit I skimmed through a lot. Please forgive me if I ignored anything important!

Hypermommy-
I saw that you were looking for a website to calculate the calories you eat -
Sparkpeople.com will compute that when you first join and set up an account. ..... OH AND I LOVE the recipe builder that figures out calories - you could even use this to figure weight watcher points.

Thanks! Sparkpeople is what I've been using but only the "record the calories" portion. Don't have time for more messageboards and such. I was just hoping the "official" word on my allowed calories would be different :rotfl2:

I did have some unfortunate incidences with a dorritos bag

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I just love the way you said that!

I guess it reasonated with me again because I thought about not being afraid to pursue your dreams and that we stop or limit ourselves from the life we want through fear of embarrassment or humiliation. I know I sometimes use humor as a shield against the embarrassment - you know when you know you can't fit somewhere - "Ok - my as* will be happy there but where would you like the rest of me to sit" type thing. Anyway sorry for the long rambling post - but I guess I just want to offer it as encouragement to everyone to get out there and not be afraid to live your dreams.

What a wonderful thing for us to remember and what a fantastic way to remember it!!!! Thanks for the story.

My pic is in the second row from the bottom, middle pic. LOVE that trophy!!!

Wow!!!! What a trophy!!!!!!!

QOTD for Monday: Where do you live? country, city, sate, Region... whichever you feel comfortable sharing!

I live in North Florida. Y'all send some of that cooler weather our way!!!

Okay, guys... gotta run. Gotta get back to the grindstone here at work. Missed you guys!!!

Hi everybody!

QOTD Monday: I live in Bowling Green, KY but I was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan. It is fairly mild here all year long. I really miss the snow...but not shoveling or driving in it...:rotfl:

Hope everyone is having an OP day!

Lea

QOTD for Monday: Where do you live? country, city, sate, Region... whichever you feel comfortable sharing!

I have lived my entire life in Maryland. I grew up in a suburb near DC but moved to Maryland's Eastern Shore when I got married. It was a good move for us because DHs electrical contracting business has done well here and it was a great place to raise a family. I live on the the Delmarva Peninsula. Yes Virginia is part of the peninsula too, check a map. We here say there is no life west of the Chesapeake Bay.

I have had a good day OP. I hope you have too. Just a heads up watch out for the official announcement tomorrow. It's an eye opener. We losers had quite a week.

Sorry about the gain, but on the upside you are 3 years younger! Once you get that walking worked into your schedule, then I know you will be seeing losses. it is hard to find the time to exercise, but you are worth it!:flower3:

It is partially a time issue. More so it is I am not medically allowed to do much, as I am still recovering from a broken foot. I fractured a bone back in July. I have an x-ray on Friday and go back to the doc, next Tuesday. Hopefully I will be all good and do not have to go back anymore. I have been wearing normal shoes. My gait is still abnormal though from wearing the boot making me have to walk uneven. It is not really from pain, I just can not get the muscles to walk normally.

I live in Berks County area in PA. I wish I still lived in Orlando, Fl. Although I would be happy living in Georgia, or North or South Carolina.

QOTD: I was born, raised and still living in Seattle, Wa we live about 15 minutes from downtown Seattle. Some of my husbands extended family lives in San Diego we visit about once a year and I've been trying to see if he wants to move there, but so far it's a no go :(

Been busy getting back into things, my aunt went home so now it's me doing the laundry etc.. I lost 5lbs since surgery but gained back 2lbs. Saw my doctor today and still it's a no go for exercising until 6weeks, but I am missing it and worried that I will start gaining if I don't. So I may start doing some light brisk walking until then.

Enjoying hearing where everyones from!

Of to read the planning boards....:surfweb:

Try taking melatonin at night about 30 mins before bed. I too have this problem (friends call it the 4Am AHA brain-I do my best thinking in the middle of sound sleep then get up and run to the computer to e-mail them!)

I have been taking melatonin for several months and have notice a big difference in the amount and quality of sleep I get!
(In case you notice my post time-I am working and don't get off until 2AM today-not an AHA post!:rotfl2: )

QOTD:Monday I am from San Dimas, CA...yes the one from Bill & Ted's excellent Adventure (you know how many times I've heard "San Dimas High School Football RULES!" from out of towners?)
I was born and raised in the area-although I did summer all through childhood in Beaver Falls, PA (parents are from that area!)

If nothing else that should give my boys a smile. I saw B&TEA at a flea market the other day and had to pick it up as it was only $5. I figure it's one of the American classics that I should make sure my children are aware of.

So for today, in honor of SillyAndi (and in the hopes that you won't be offended) let's all be EXCELLENT to each other!
