Here I've been watching what I eat this week. Haven't been good all the time but it's at least been on my mind. And I've been working out the last few days. And I've been drinking water. And I gained 2 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay... rationalization time. I used a different scale and that may have something to do with it. And I weighed at a different time of day. Last week I weighed in the evening but today it was around 9:30 AM. So maybe those two things had something to do with it.

But it's so discouraging.

Sorry to let you down team.
Trying weighing first thing in the AM after you potty.. you are at your lightest weight. And keep the same times when you weigh. Your body can fluctuate up to 7lbs in a day!

No change for me this week. :confused3 I exercised and I watched what I was eating, :confused3 I figure it is just going to take a bit longer to show results. Hopefully I will have a lose to report at next weeks check-in. :thumbsup2

I'm down 2.4 and the main thing that I did this week was count calories instead of WW points. I think i'm in a "rut" w/ my WW so I'm giving it a break. So far it looks like calorie counting is working for me.

Congrats to all of you and dont be discouraged for those that didnt lose! Go ahead and blame it on the new scale ;) but only for this week, right??

I'm on day 3 of tracking EVERY BIT OF FOOD THAT GOES IN TO MY MOUTH and I'm proud to say that I really, really have tracked it all! Even the bite of my son's yogurt covered pretzel!

Due to health issues, I'm a verrrrry slow loser, so as long as the numbers don't go up, I consider the week a win. That being said, I did drop a half pound this week. :)

Things that I did well were drinking lots and lots of water and walking every day.

One thing that did not go so well was my half-baked idea that I'd lose more if I switched to low carb eating. I tried that for 3 days and stuck with it perfectly...until 3:00 p.m. rolled around. Each day at almost exactly the same time, I went on a major carb binge and ate lots of the snacks I keep in my desk. (The good news is that I keep only the 100 calorie snack packs. the bad news is I ate at least 4 of 'em every day!) I'm switching back to my Weight Watchers Flex plan tomorrow.

So, the scale didn't go up, and I learned a lesson about the eating plan that works best for me. Hopefully I will post bigger numbers for the blue team next week.

Go Blue! :cool1:

I don't know how many calories people who count calories are eating but here's a suggestion I was given in a program I once participated in. I was told you should eat the number of calories per day that is equal to the weight you want to be x 10. So if you want to weigh 120 pounds you should eat 120 x 10 = 1200. 150 pounds 150x10=1500 calories and so on. The nice thing was that if you have a lot to lose you could start with a higher calorie count (within reason). If you weigh 250 and need (or want) to weigh 130, that's a big reduction in intake of food. So start with 50 pound increments--shoot for 200 pounds or 2000 calories....and then keep lowering it in 50 pound increments. The philosphy is that in order to maintain weight at 250, you are eating around 2500 calories. So to lose weight you need to eat less than 2500--dropping it to 2000 or 1800 calories or so is LESS than you were eating. Sometimes people who are losing weight don't eat enough. hard to believe but true. When I'm "being good" and following this way of eating I really do lose weight. Hope this is helpful and works for others.

I have gained 1lb this week which is not bad considering it is my birthday week.
I will be on track from Sunday so wish me luck.

I will be checking in a lot more often then.

I dropped 3lbs!!!

I cut out sweets and soda all together. But I'm eating everything else like I used to, just smaller portions. Now I am 20lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight!!!

Hi!
I am up 1 pound this week....hoping it is due to being PMS. I usually gain up to 7 pounds during this week, so hopefully I will lose next week. :)

Princess Vija- you are doing a tiggerific job as Captain! I cannot figure out how you are getting anything else done in your life becuase you have been so responsive!

Hypermommy - Please do not beat yourself up for a weight gain. This is a marathon and not a sprint! Give yourself a HUGE amount of credit for committing to this and for keeping with it! Praise yourself for the positive steps you are taking...every single baby step deserves praise! And ignore ( yes, ignore!!!) the negative voices that are trying to bring you down. If you slip up, LET IT GO and begin again. None of us can be perfect...nope not possible - take it from a 'recovering perfectionist!'. HUGS to you!

Sparky47 - Thanks for the calorie count tip!!! I am going to try it starting this week!

Here's to another week closer to being FIT and HEALTHY team!!! Have a great week!! :cheer2:

Hi everyone,

So, I am home from work reporting in... long day at work, stayed 2hours over! Now I want to just sleep....

Anyway, I stayed the same this week.:headache: That frustrates me as I know I made some good choices, but apparently not enough. I didn't track my food/points and I see that makes a big difference.

What worked well for me was not eating out as much as we have in the past. With the economy tanking like it is, we are trying to avoid going out.

I was on call ALOT this past week, and I didn't get out to walk like I wanted to, so I plan on getting in some walking this weekend.

I also plan on trying to get in more fruits. I am a fruit snob. I like strawberries and bananas. (raspberries and blueberries, but those are either super expensive or not around) (canned fruits too, but I don't want the sugar) So I am going to work very hard at getting in some more fruit.

Thanks for the replies regarding the captain duties. I appreciate all of your kind words, and will work hard to keep up the responses. I will get to them a little later, I have to run off to the store for DS right now.

Oh, I have a great idea on how to up the post count... I could quote each person back on separate posts!:rotfl:

JUST KIDDING!:lmao:

I lost 3 lbs. this week. Yea!! What worked for me was planning. I love me some evening snacks, so I planned for those first and worked backwards. Tonight I'm having a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwhich and some Smart Pop popcorn (thanks to whoever suggested it. It's not inedible.)

Those of you who didn't lose or gained: most of us will be right there sometime, don't feel bad. Your honesty makes it easier for the rest of us who struggle to be honest too. Keep persevering!

Thanks Princess!! Your encouragement has been really motivating.

Good luck this weekend, everyone. Must not visit movie theater for popcorn, must not visit movie theater for popcorn....

Hi all,

Congrats to everyone on all of the hard work you put in. Whether the scales showed it or not, you're doing things to make yourself healthier!! I dropped 3.5 lbs this week which I'm very happy with...onward and upward.

To our fearless leaders--keep up the fantastic work.

My plan continues to be the same. I try to keep my calorie intake between 1200-1500/day and to work out for 45 min-1 hour daily. It's been working so far. One thing I seriously need to work on is getting my water in as I am a serious Diet Pepsi addict.

A question for all of you. How did you decide what your goal weight would be? Was it a weight you were comfortable at in the past, a number on the BMI chart, a recommendation from your doctor or WW???? I'm having a really hard time determining what I should shoot for.

Have a great week losers!!
Jen

Right now I am shooting for a goal weight of 150. It is not the "ideal" body weight for somebody of my height and age but it is a weight that I would be happy achieving. If I lose more great it not I'll be happy with 150.

cjackearl-I love Skinny Cows. I'm also hooked on those 90 calorie fudge sticks.

jamesnnick-I'm setting several goal weights. I want to loose 35 pounds, so I'm going set my goals in 10 pound increments. Hopefully this will help keep me motivated longer.

TammyNC , 2 pounds!!!! THat is fantastic! You made some great choices and you were rewarded!

leamom2princesses, 3#!!!!!:cool1: Way to go! You really made some great choices and modified your eating. I am very impressed with how you treated yourself at the end of the day. It is a nice reward, something to keep you motivated and something to look forward to! Nice job! Let us know how the new pedometer works.

Goofy Groupie, 6###!!!!!!!! YOU ARE A SUPERSTAR! I think you are doing fantastic, and your excitement is well earned!

Sabrina_Mouse , hey, a loss is a loss and you are moving onward and downward! Celebrate it! What kind of cardio do you plan on adding in this week? I think I will join you in that challenge and I am going to add in 1 DVD exercise this week. Let's do it!:thumbsup2

Briarmom , I am the same too this week, Maintaining is something to be celebrated as well.:dance3: Let's be superstars next week together! We can DO IT!

jimmduck , don't worry about .6# You lost a lot of weight, and like they said a little bounce back isn't unusual. You might have been dehydrated and it is just your body holding on to some water. Drink lots of water this week and keep focused! I KNOW you can do this. I will join you in tracking points this week. I'll be here for when you check in next week, and we can celebrate our success in tracking, and losing weight together!:thumbsup2

Julylady , 1.2 #!!! ALLRIGHT!:yay: That is terrific about the pedometer. You set a goal and went above and beyond, that is great! I imagine eating out everymeal is going to be tough. See if you can get to the websites if the restaurants have websites, and see their menus in advance. you may be able to find the healthy foods in advance. Have a safe journey.

Convert 2#!!!! SUPER DUPER!:cheer2: Starting exercising is terrific, I'll bet you are feeling great, not just in your number loss, but in general I'll bet the exercise feels great. I like how you are limiting your tv snacks, I think I need to limit my computer snacks!:surfweb:

Hypermommy, don't worry, you could never let us down! Weight fluctuations are part of the weight loss journey, and next week I know it will be a loss week for you! And yes, new scales can goof things up, so hang in there! ANd I too want to say that you are an awesome motivator for others. :flower3:

hobbester, 2#!!!! That is awesome!:woohoo: I love the Amazing Race too, and I can't wait for the next season. I have no clue when it is, but I think they are taping it now. you were very creative with getting in exercise. The long walks on breaks helps get in that exercise. Next the treadmill.... you rock!:cool2:

Sparky47, a 1.5# loss!!!! EXCELLENT!!!!:cheer2: you have made some great choices, and working on how to change your thoughts to this being not just a "diet" is fantastic. I think 95% of weight loss is truly your mindset, and you are working on it with great attitude and motivation. I know what you mean about being on top of the world when you are "on" and being in the pits when you are "off". But with this new mindset you will never be "on" or "off", you will be YOU working at getting healthier! So glad you joined our blue team!:grouphug:

Jaime , 5# loss!!! WOOHOOO! Another superstar!:yay: Thanks for writing down your food journal, that is a great way to help others out. I was wondering how do you like Activia? their commercials seem great, wondering how you like it. The water drinking seems to be key, I think I will try and add water to my daily intake. And I love how you have your favorite foods on Saturday. Gives you something to work towards, and you aren't depriving yourself of anything you love. awesome job!:thumbsup2

MelanieC , 3.8#!!!! That is OUTSTANDING! :cool1: Oh man, you really did have a stressful night. You certainly are very strong by resisting the temptation to stress eat. Just like Bellybee wrote about last week, stress eating won't help the problem, and only adds to other problems. I hope your DH has a safe journey home and I hope your week does get better!

Dianatlol , 3# loss!!! YEEHAW! Looks like your plan is really working, thanks for sharing your meal plan with us. I love to see what other people are eating, gives me ideas on how to incorporate healthy options.

Lifelong_Dreamer, maintaining is OK! It is still a success!!! I too maintained, and that is ok, we will be superstars together next week! Keep on going on, and you will see the numbers drop!

moredisneyplease, 2.3#!!! VERY EXCITING!:cheer2: I forgot, are you using something special to help you count calories? Do you mind sharing what your target goal is? You did a great job and I'll bet next week will be fantastic too!:goodvibes

I'm down 2.2 this week. I went to a very inspirational WW meeting this am and will try to sort of synthasize the talk. I left with more motivation and belief in self than I have felt in a long time. I usually can not wait to bolt from a meeting but it was a sub speaker who was fantastic. He really spoke from the heart about why we negative self talk and the things we do to set ourselves up for failure and how to turn that to a positive self esteem building part of our journey. I'll post what I can remember tomorrow - I have some issues right now- my sister is in the hospital again and i need to focus my attention there at the moment. Have a super weekend everyone

Lisa

junebugTN , .5# LOSS!!!! That is something to celebrate!:yay: Thanks for sharing how you realized the low carb plan isn't for you. You took a chance on something new, that is courageous! And now knowing what works for you is brilliant! Keep going. You said that this would be slow for you, that's ok, slow and steady will win the race!

Sparky47 , thanks for sharing that information! I LOVE IT! I have had problems going to nutritionists, because they did exactly what you said, put me at the weight I should be and then X by 10. Well when you have over 1/2 your body weight to loose, that is too DRASTIC! What you said really made sense! I think dropping down 50 calories is a great start! Thanks for the great idea!:thumbsup2

Bellybee, don't worry about the gain, I'll bet you'll be a big loser next week. And I've got to say, I LIKE YOUR THINKING.... it isn't just a birthDAY to celebrate, but a birthday WEEK!!!! Smart girl!:thumbsup2 A weeklong celebration is right up my alley! Think my DH would go for it?:lmao:

natale1980 , 3# loss and 20# UNDER PREPREGNANCY!:worship: You are doing fantastic!!!!! And you cut out all sweets and soda!:faint: No wonder you are doing so great! You are definetely a motivator for all of us!:thumbsup2

Patty1859, don't worry about the gain, we can all be big losers together next week!!! Let's make a date... next Friday shout to the blue team what our losses are!

cjackearl , 3# loss!!! AMAZING! You are doing great! Planning is so important. That is neat how you first planned in your snack and then worked your way backward. VERY SMART!::yes:: And you are so right, the honesty that people have shown here is awesome, it isn't easy to post a gain, but it is courageous and in the end helps everyone!!!

jamesnnick, 3.5# loss!!!!! AWESOME! I like how you have a calorie range, that gives you leeway and you don't have to worry about hitting it "perfect", just in "range". As far as my weight loss goal, I have a long way to go, but I picked a number that is low, but one that I know I can maintain, one that won't make me have to exercise 7 hours a day, one that will be comfortable, and in a healthy range for my body.

njmom23grls , a 2.2# loss!!! Outstanding!!!! Oh Dear, I am sorry your sister is in the hospital again. Sending prayers and wishes that she gets better. I look forward to hearing what the leader says about negative self talk, I really need to hear that! BUT take care of you and your sister now, when you are ready, we will be all ears!:listen:

Even though posts are already up, I need to make this official, because everyone deserves a welcome....!!!!!

WELCOME TO 2 NEW BLUE TEAM MEMBERS!

Niecey59, sparky47

:welcome:

OK, I have to say that one of the benefits of being a team captain is that you REALLY read everyone's posts in detail, and I appreciate all the sharing and openness (sp?).

I have already learned so much that will help me along this path, and I thank you! I learned about and am more motivated for : calorie counting, planning and maybe starting "backwards", drinking more water, and celebrating my birthday for a WEEK!:lmao: So far this week in response to your posts , I have commited to

1. adding in 1 exercise DVD

2. counting my points (BUT I think I may count calories instead, Thanks to Sparky47 for the great info on counting calories)

3. BEING A SUPERSTAR with weight loss next week

If I missed something, let me know!

Now a question for you... What have you learned from reading other posts, that will help you along your path to a healthier lifestyle? Or have the posts motivated you to try something new, or add on to your current plan?
