mikaham I can relate to the no fruits or veggies at a party. My inlaws idea of entertaining is to put out cheese doodles, chips, cheese and salsa. Veggies for dinner is canned or frozen. If my sister in law supplies the dinner then everything is covered in some sort of cheese or cream sause.

Question of the Day
If you walk do you walk outside, on a treadmill, do Walk Away the Pounds or use a pedometer and just walk around your house?

I have been using a pedometer for the last couple of months. I am working to get to 12000 consistently. I am consistently at 7000 and some days hit 10000. This is one thing I am going to work on this challenge.
Have a great day everyone.
Dona, that is so funny, my brother always has cheese doodles for every party. The cheesy/cream sauce is my family too. When I'm trying to be good, like now, I bring a plain vegie. I'm bringing grean bean casserole for easter, and some plain ones too. My son doesn't like all the sauces, so that's good for him. 7000 steps sounds great. I need to get a pedometer.

qotd- I do the walk away the pounds and love them. I usually get up a little before my son and do a 30 min on work days, and the weekends will do a 60 min. I've been doing 5 days/ week average, and it has kept my weight pretty stable when my eating is not good.

Question of the Day
What do you do for a living?

How does it help or hinder your weight loss?

I am a math team so I am on my feet a good part of the day. I usually get at least a 1000 steps in while I am on cafeteria duty.

Tha bad part is there is always some place with food that is fairly easy to get to. Also being on cafeteria duty lets you know what they are serving in the cafeteria and sometimes it looks a lot better than what you packed.

Have a great day everyone.

Way to go Green Team! It looks like we're off to a great start!:thumbsup2

Thought I'd answer the walking question...I mainly use the treadmill in my home. I am having success this weight-loss effort, and I think the main reason is that I walk for 60 minutes on my treadmill about 6 days a week. I do like to walk outside, but I think I get a better, concentrated workout on my treadmill. In my neighborhood, I get stopped every few feet by neighbors who want to chit-chat, dogs that want me to pet them, etc... . Once I get my body on that treadmill, I really don't mind it so much. I watch t.v. and the time usually goes by fairly quickly. I do need to do it in the morning, because if I wait until evening, other things come up or I'm just too darn tired!

I'm almost at a range of weight I haven't seen for quite a few years (maybe 5?) and I am so excited about that. I just have to keep up the motivation and self-discipline when it comes to my food choices...that is so hard! I love chocolate! Chocolate chip cookies, brownies, Easter candy...ugh! Stay away, stay away!!! I do love those Hostess 100-calorie mini-cupcake packs. They have been a lifesaver for me. ;)

Good luck everyone...and go green team!

Julie

Good morning, Greenies! I am enjoying my new Jiminy clip art and managed to fit it in my signature and stay legal -- yay!

Congratulations to Bill and all the superstars -- you are all doing a great job!

Question of the Day
What do you do for a living?
How does it help or hinder your weight loss?

I am an attorney and have a practice with my husband. It hinders my weight loss because I am stuck to a desk all day long. It is an emotionally draining job so many days I am worn to a frazzle and don't exercise or eat the way I should due to lack of planning on my part.

The good thing is that I am my own boss so I have the power to change the not so good stuff. I am trying taking a couple of walks a day for breaks now that the weather is improving to get me away from the drama and for exercise. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it works. I am thankful to have a job and have some freedom. I don't think that I could ever go work for someone else again -- well, except Disney maybe . . .

Have a good day, Greenies!

Good morning, greenies! Congrats to everyone for our success this week--especially to Bill - :cheer2:

Hope this week is going great with lots of good choices :thumbsup2

QOTD - I train medical office software from my home... so I am sitting at my computer off and on all day. There are times when I have clients that are very 'stress-causing' and draining--and those days I always just reach for something easy to fix for dinner.
As with others - I would do much better if I just planned ahead and was better organized and willing to put in a bit of extra work for healthy choices :) This group is helping to keep the whole process more on the front of my mind--which I really appreciate... thank you to all who are here!!!

Have a fabulously disney day!
:) Liz

Yay, Greenies!! and AWESOME job, BilltM!!!

Monday's QOTD:"If you walk do you walk outside, on a treadmill, do Walk Away the Pounds or use a pedometer and just walk around your house?" I walk on the TM during the week, and outside on the weekends. I have several of the WATP DVD's for variety and when I go to my mil's house. Baaad neighborhood to walk in.

Today's QOTD: "What do you do for a living? How does it help or hinder your weight loss?" I'm retired, now. I'm really involved in researching genealogy :surfweb:, landscaping our home and training for half marathons. Being on this team is really helping with the weight accountability!! :thumbsup2

Keep up the great work, mates! :yay: I'll be without internet access starting this evening. This time at my mil's is going to be a real battle to not gain (it always is and I usually lose..the battle). My mil's house is set up for disaster. Every end table has dishes of chocolate candy or nuts..and I'm not exaggerating! This is ALL the time, not just at Easter. I think she must have been deprived of it as a child, or embraced the philosophy that if it is around all of the time, you won't pig out on it when you see it. Then the cupboards are filled with cookies and more candy. I will grocery shop when I get there, and am bringing my WATP DVD's for the 2 days when I'll be able to use them, and hand weights to do strength training.

Why does the weight come on so quickly, but take so long to get off??!! :sad2: I'll get through this one step at a time..Sorry to sound so whiney...:sad1: I just really liked seeing that number on the scale Friday. That's what is going to keep me on track, I hope!! Anne

Why does the weight come on so quickly, but take so long to get off??!! :sad2:

Isn't that the truth? Good luck staying on track this week-end. You're only human so don't be hard on yourself if you don't. I love my in-laws but a week-end together can wreak havoc on all my good intentions -- it's just part of life!

I am a lawyer. It helps or hinders depending upon the stress levels. Sometimes I eat out of control. When I am doing trials, I sometimes don't like to eat at all. Actually, if I were in trial everyday, I would look like Jaclyn Smith!

Have a great day everyone.

Hey Green Team! I really have my game face on this week. I'm doing Wii Personal Trainer or the Shred everyday this week. What are some of you doing for exercise? I would love to get other ideas because I get bored easily. It has to be something I can get done at home with 1 year old DD.

Ok- I was so lost, I couldn't figure out what team I was on - but mystery solved thanks to a PM from Jessi!

I was doing good even doing well when I went the end of March for the Nascar race, but Monday driving home I got my TOM and things went out of whack. I've been struggling ever since and still not back on track.

I hid from WISH and the BL Challenge. Why do I do this when posting here is what I really need. Why does I let it make me hide? This is something I must work on, because It's a key to success I need to conquer.

Ok - Starting right now - no more unhealthy non OP foods in my mouth. Back to eating Clean and counting calories on SP.

I can do this and I better get a handle quick before I undo the good I've done. I have less than 4 months to Disney and if I want to be wearing the shorts I have - I better get my rear in gear.

Plan - Tonight:

Eat healthy and light and do Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Level 1

Tomorrow:

Eat clean, pack my meals and do Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Level 1 and 20-30 min on the treadmill.

So that is my plan, back on track and gonna go kick some butt!

I worked hard over the past week ... however this week has been more difficult. At this point, I'm at the same point as I started w/ Friday's weigh-in. I was down almost 2lbs before Sunday. I have been on the road (in the car) part of Sat. and Sunday. Yesterday I attended a memorial service for a friends mother so I was back out in Western Mass for the afternoon and in the car through pouring rain.

So ... I'm back to Fridays number (or within 0.2). I have been maintaining the water and fruit intake but I haven't walked as much (read as very little).

Hello to the newer members of the BL Green team. Thank you Tar Heels for helping me in my brackets. I had them to go all the way!!

I'm behind on the QOTD's. I work in Finance and I'm at the desk most of the day. The weather here still keeps me indoors during lunchtime. I don't have a treadmill so my cardio is outside walking ... hopefully running soon. I have free weights at home and I hope to start some weightlifting.

I still want to lose another 30lbs overall total. My goal for this challenge was/is 20lbs total.

I hope everybody is working toward their goal(s) and reach them sooner than later. "Believe in yourself and your half way there"

Thanks again

Bill

BTW -- I tried Brussel Sprouts for the first time today. Actually I just had a small bite (not even half) because they were in a cheese sauce. Well ... they weren't bad. Like a mini cabbage, I think.

One thing I forgot to mention was that I logged a lot more miles walking last week than I have this week (so far). I probably won't get close to last weeks total miles. I find that my weight usually takes a full day or two respond to the walking/cardio.

I find that coming home from work and jumping right out on the road helps me change my eating habits. I tend to want less quantities of food and stick closer to quality. I haven't been able to follow that routine yesterday and today.

Now the dog wants her walk. Except she stops at every blade of grass for a sniff!

Hey Bill! That clippie looks good on you! :thumbsup2

Like a mini cabbage, I think.

My husband calls brussel sprouts Barbie doll cabbage. They are supposed to good roasted -- DH likes them just plain old steamed.

Quotd's
walking-treadmill--any day I don't work early and the View is on. Walks at night with my son-- need to do this more.
Job- counter sercice meat counter, very active, helps. Lol great clippie- I ws never sure if we were supposed to keep the weekly reigning tag thing-- guess not. Oh well...:rolleyes1 :goodvibes
