Good morning Red Team. Welcome to week 11. A new week is always a wonderful thing. Don't forget to weigh in today and report your weight to me, not matter how your week was. If you had a good week that is great and I am proud of you. If your week wasn't all you hoped it would be that's OK. Today starts a new week and another chance to do better. We are the ones who have the power to change our habits and make better health choices.
Thanks to those who have keep our thread alive while I was MIA. Guess where I was. Never mind, don't guess. I am back and will try to do a better job as team captain. My job is to be your cheerleader.
Red Team question of the day
No matter what the scale said to you today remember that you are great. You are here, part of the WISH Biggest Loser Challenge. You are a special part of the Red Team, the most special of all teams. You are here to develop healthy habits. You are here to commit to yourself. You are here to commit to better health, whatever that means to you.
So finally the question is - What did you do this week that you are proud of? Weight wise, job wise, life wise, what ever. Tell me something good.
Me first. OK it's late and I am drawing a blank. I could tell you plenty of stupid stuff I did, good stuff is harder for me to come up with. I threw away the old and moldy head of lettuce that I never ate in a salad. That's not really a good thing is it? Well my vegetable drawer does smell better but I can do better than that.
Tonight DH and I attended an empty nester Family Home Evening. My church encourages all families to gather together on Monday night. Turn off the TV, don't answer the phone, sit together and bond as a family. Teach a lesson, play a game, sing a hymn, tell stories, read scriptures, have a special dessert. Just spend some quality time together. This gets harder to do as kids grow up and leave home. DS that is engaged is never home and DH and I do not do Family Home Evening as we should.
One Monday a month an empty nest couple (or single person) hosts a family home evening. They just started last month and this is the first time we went. We are asked to bring a treat to share. I knew if I took a dessert I would have leftovers, bring them home with me, and then proceed to eat them all.
I took veggie bars. The crust is crescent rolls baked in a flat layer. On top goes a filling of cream cheese, mayo, and a packet of dry ranch salad dressing mix. Sprinkled on top is chopped veggies and shredded cheese. I used carrots, celery, broccoli, and cauliflower. They were the hit of the evening and thankfully not too many came home with me. I am proud that I made something a little bit healthy instead of a dessert to share.
So what's good with you Red Team? I hear we have some running going on. That is something good. Michelle is walking, that is good. Nancy is settling in at a new job after 16 years at her old one. Let's celebrate the good things today. Hopefully it will be on your scale, but if not that's OK. Evaluate why your scale said what it did to you today and make a plan to see a smaller number next week. Even if this week was not a loss for you there are still small victories to celebrate. Today we celebrate!!
Have a healthy day!
