Decided on a cabin and got all the details in order... went to book and it's asking for a deposit!
Called to speak to a rep who informed me the promotion is for 7+ nights (and only $500 of..) only. She claims ig changed two weeks ago, bug I spoke with a rep just a few days ago that confirmed NO DEPOSIT on my cruise!

SO MAD.

There's ONE cabin left in the category that I want and I highly doubt it will be available when I can book WITH a deposit. Im SO ANGRY.

Do I have any recourse? I was told no deposit specifically regarding my cruise just a few days ago! The rep I spoke with was not interested in offering any help. :-(

Put in another call and now awaiting callback from the AM supervisor to see if they will honor what I was told.
Fingers crossed.

Otherwise I will just have to check back (knowing me, daily) to see if promotion "changes" again while I wait on deposit - holding on commission :-/
If that room is booked then we may have to adjust sail date. Vacation days are not yet set in stone, so we do have some flexibility.
But I really like the week before Halloween, so here's hoping!

I would imagine you won't have much luck unless they feel like doing it as a goodwill gesture. After all, it's your word against theirs with no proof. Good luck!

Sorry, I am confused about the no deposit.....are you looking for courtesy hold for a few days without a deposit having to be placed? Will putting a deposit down a few days before you thought you would be that big of an inconvenience? Just trying to understand what the promotion was. Why not just book with someone else if you are not happy with BJ's? What is "holding on commission".

Can't you book online at DCL with a courtesy hold now and pick the category you want and just put down when due or is it too close to cruise time.?

MJ

The program is supposed to upfront $500 of the deposit now and you have to pay the $500 later. You are just deferring the deposit for a later date. They also do it on shorter 4-day cruises so it is not limited to the 7 day sailings. You may have gotten a bad rep. I had a cruise booked with BJs then cancelled and changed my booking and used a TA. The original cruise was a 4 day on the Dream.

They've had this promotion for quite a while. I know they've had it since April so I doubt it would end soon unless there is something published stating so.

"Holding on comission" = I cant book with a deposit until my next commission check LOL

Honestly I was just upset that I was told one thing and then they did not want to follow through. I know the deposit is deferred, not waived. I just want to book NOW :-)

IN WONDERFUL NEWS, I spoke to a lovely supervisor this morning. She did make clear that its supposed to be for 7+ nights now, but at my polite yet firm insistence, was abke to pull some strings and get the reservation booked with deferred deposit. I was, needless to say, pleasantly surprised and VERY HAPPY!! (She also knew about paying w/GCs, other reps didnt know about that either! Yay.)

This is what I get for trying to book in the off-season here, we FL residents dont make money until it's way cooler out. Hurry up, snowbirds! Lol.
I really wouldnt havd pressed the issue but as I was given incirrect information, the responsibility to make things right falls on their shoulders. Im so glad.

377 DAYS UNTIL WE BOARD THE DREAM! OMG!!!

With 377 more days it just seems unlikely that there would be just the one room. Of course I could be wrong, but could it be that BJ's only has the one room in that category, but booking through another method might have gotten that category?

Of course they wouldn't have the deposit thing you wanted, but still. Seems odd!

Happened to us with our last cruise. There were a couple of categories gone right at a year out. They were some of the smaller, high demand categories.

Indeed. Im a picky weirdo lol. Plenty left far fore, and deck 9+ sleeping only 4...

I don't know what the big deal is about paying the deposit. It comes off the total of your sailing cost. I usually pay more on the deposit to get my cruises paid off sooner.

Perhaps the person doesn't have the deposit money up front right now, so it could be a big deal to them ;)

Then comes the old adage, can they even afford to cruise, but I'm not going there. Just saying, I won't book a cruise I can't pay the deposit on.;)

Different strokes for different folks. I am glad everything worked out for you with the deferred deposit Slzer0.

Sometimes it's better to just keep your thoughts internal :)

Don't be that way. Nobody knows their situation. The cruise is NEXT year. Plenty of time to pay it off. They may have the deposit next week, but not the stateroom, so they would have to book now if given the opportunity.

Maybe they have a bonus coming later or something. Never know if people have some sort of seasonal income schedule. I am just speculating.

I've never heard of no deposit. Is this similar to booking on the Disney site where they allow a few days to put the deposit down?

Also is BJ the same as the warehouse store (similar to Costco)? I didn't know they had a travel agency in there!

Then it wouldn't be a message board now would it?

Don't be what way? Calling a spade a spade? Sorry, I call it like I see it.

No Mary Poppins for me!
