Bizarre Experience at Haunted Mansion

Older DS and my sister boarded their behind us, and then we noticed the CM basically pushing a man in with them. Apparently he was a single rider, and because the crowd was so backed up, they said that he wasn't allowed to ride alone.

Just because the lone guy shouldn't sit alone doesn't mean another party should have a stranger in with them. They get really short-sighted, IMO.

I mean, single rider on TSMM at DCA was eliminated because people were so worried about strangers riding with strangers, and that's a brightly lit ride where you're in sight of other people at all times and you have your own restraint...

DH was the odd man out and said he would ride alone. He didn't care if they put another single rider with him. So when we boarded, the CM tried to get him to board with DS and me. Again, they wanted to put three adult-sized people in one vehicle built for two. DS pushed back a little and the CM said, "It's crowded today. Two or three in each car."

That's where it was always helpful that my son's father doesn't look much like my son, because people would never visually put us together, LOL.

I'd also want to have my own doom buggy on Haunted Mansion though. But on a rollercoaster, I wouldn't expect to be seated alone if the row is designed for two.
TSMM is a somewhat unique situation, because the two people seated together are expected to interact with each other so it can be awkward.

On my 8th ever trip, finally got enough nerve to ride Splash Mountain. First ride was sitting beside DS11 while DW tried to calm my nerves from the seat behind. Next day, I ride again. DS and DW want to ride togther, so I get in behind them. We are about to move from the loading area, when a guy says "Two girls. No room. Ride with you?" I said sure, and we had a good time. He had two probably 7-8 year old daughters in the row behind us, and he wouldn't have fit with them, so it worked out great. I warned him it was my second ever ride and I was still a bit nervous. Don't think he understood, though. Very glad that wasn't my first ride as I really did struggle to remain calm.
