Hi all
We are just back from Disney Florida hear are some comments about this trip.

On arriving a Sanford airport and proceeding through immigration and picking up our bags. We lined up to hand over the card that ask have you anything to declare things like food and so on. As usual, we ticked nothing to declare the woman noticed that my daughter was holding a small bag of wine gums and started ranting on that by ticking the nothing to declare box next to food we could be charged with falsifying a government document by not declaring the sweets on the card and we could be find $1000 dollars. After her rant, she just told us to move on with us thinking what was that about.
Has anyone ever declared sweets or had problems with not declaring sweets going into the USA?

This trip like last year we noticed that EPCOT was the worst when it came to people smoking in the parks wherever they liked and we did not see one member of staff ask anyone to either put it out or move to a proper smoking area.

Crush 'n' Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon Water Park was a big hit with the kids and my wife a*s and would recommend it anyone visiting Typhoon Lagoon.

One thing that did piss me off was as we floated around Typhoon Lagoon Castaway Creek my wife noticed a family group in front of us openly drinking bottles of bud as they floated around not one member of staff told them to get out or anything.
the reason this annoyed us is a lady on her own was told not to take her refillable mug on the Lazy river. I do not know if the cast members did not want to confront this group but the rules of the park are for every.

During our stay at the BW Inn the bakery stopped making bow ties the person serving told us that they are no longer going to be making bow ties as they are changing some of the things on the menu.
Do any of you know if this is true that my lovely bow tie is gone forever?

Thanks for that!!! I cant believe they let them drink bud in the pool! and that customs thing - yikes!!!! thought it had to be something over certain value anyway ?!
I cant wait to try crusher n gusher. We wil be visiting boardwalk bakery too!

I can't believe that about not declaring the sweets - I've never heard anything like it. I too have seen people being made to leave the lazy river because they've got their refillable mug with them, how crazy to let people with bottles get on, the bottles could cause alot more damage.

Oooh can we have a trip report please, where did you stay, was the weather good ???

you have to declare anything that is edible, regardless of whether it's allowed or not..
we always declare the candy we have with us by ticking off the "food" box...
they ususally ask what food we're referring to, we say candy and they say ok..

but by law you definitely have to declare everything, including candy..

and let me say that US Customs is not something you want to get into an altercation with....there are some US customs officers who just love to throw their weight around....and the fines related to food can be HUGE....
so be safe and tick off the Yes box next to food...

we also LOVE Crush and Gusher.....all four of us (me, husband, 18 year old son and 20 year old daughter)....we couldn't get enough of it....and it kind of ruins all the other tube slides..

we found the smoking situation to be better this year than last.....we noticed fewer people just walking around with cigarettes wherever.....and the few that did, were the kind of people that i think anyone would be afraid to say anything to....so that may be why the CMs chose to ignore them...

as for the beer in the lazy river...that is really terrible....it would have bothered me intensely...and the idea of having glass in the lazy river is very dangerous...i can't believe the CMs didn't say something, or get security if they were scared of the group.....i have such a big mouth i would have said something to guest services (but not to the group itself....i'm not crazy enough to start up with anyone arrogant enough to do something like that)....

Actually saw something like this happen before to someone about two people in front of me in the queue to go through customs (although the official was nowhere near as abrupt as they were for the OP!), so when it was my turn asked the guy what the policy was.

His answer was ANY food, if the packaging was open, had to be thrown. Sandwiches, sweets, drinks - ANYTHING. Even if you could prove that you bought it / was given it on the airplane, it didn't matter. Declare it if you want, but to be honest, they'd prefer you threw it in one of the bins they put out for such items before you reached the desk.

If the container or packet it was in was still sealed, then it's okay - only declare it if it's fresh produce.

I always play it safe and never take any food stuff in at all. If we have not eaten it on the plane we just leave it.

We had to queue up to go through the extra xray screening for customs at Sanford, just as we went to line up an announcement came over the tannoy saying another flight had come in. Immediately, people who should have joined the queue just had their cards taken off them and directed outside much to the annoyance of my husband. They should screen all the bags if they are that concerned about food.
