I understand that if a family member's birthday falls within the parameters of a vacation stay, that family member can receive a "birthday button" from Guest relations to wear throughout the day.

Does anyone have additional and/or extensive information in regards to this practice?

I'm not sure what you mean by "extensive information" -- you pretty much HAVE all the information. You pick up a button if you're celebrating a birthday. You wear the button. Things may or may not happen because of it. ("Things" include getting extra fastpasses, having total strangers wish you happy birthday, getting a free cupcake at a restaurant, having characters notice your button and make a fuss about it, etc.) Nothing is guaranteed, but then again ... anything could happen!

I think it will be something like if you just got married. Me and DW wore our Mickey and Minnie bride and groom hats in April. We also wore the Mickey and Minnie bride and groom wedding buttons. We got some perks...People congradulating us, got some free fast passes...CM upon entering the park where they check the bags made a big deal about it at MGM and AK. We went to Ohana's and someone gave us free champagne...It was great. Now when October comes and we are going it will be my bday, so I can't wait..If you make any ps oh sorry Advance dining...some cm's might ask if anyone is celebrating a bday. If not make it noted...

All you have to do is go to guest relations in each park & tell them it is your birthday and they will give you an "It's my Birthday Today" pin!
It is great & I did it for every park when I was there for my birthday~ they are a great, *free* keepsake!

I got one for my birthday since I was 30! I got nothing. But I bought in downtown Disney for our honeymoon 11 years ago a minnie & mickey shirt that said we were honeymooners and we were bumped up to first class for our plane ride home!

I plan on getting my dd5 one for her, even though her b-day was in March. Our trip to WDW is her gift, so I'm trying not to feel too guilty about saying it's her b-day when it really isn't! I also made sure I told the CM that took our PS's that it was her belated b-day, so we'll see what happens!
7 more days!!!!!! :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:

The birthday buttons are great. Last year I was in MK for my birthday and Mickey Mouse (well his handler did the talking) started calling out to everyone to gather around and sing Happy Birthday to me! I also got free dessert at dinner at the castle and a couple of fastpasses. The CM at BTMRR let me ride twice without getting off!
