Hi I wanted to see if anyone has used these wristbands and if the worked effectively. I also wanted to see what people used to keep cool I have purchase a foam fan sprayer and some Fogg Togg chilly pads.
If you are describing the spiral/cord ones that you put on wrist: I use them every trip. HOWEVER I do not put them on anyone's wrist. I wrap it around either the stroller handles/side or the arm of the wheelchair. The have chemicals in them that I don't want touching my/my family's skin. They must do the trick because I don't have any memories of swatting bugs away.
Save your money, those things aren't need at WDW. We've never used any type of insect repellent and never been bothered by insects. Disney uses a sophisticated pest management system that does a great job in limiting the insect population.

Agreed. My husband didn't believe me when I told him that there are NO bugs at Disney, he was baffled when he realized I was right. Then, on our very last day we were in the parks we saw one fly. My son commented that it must be lost because we hadn't seen one the whole time we were there.
I have never encountered any bugs at WDW except for love bugs in May. Those bugs, however, are harmless and just fly around and mate with each other. Skip the wristbands. You won't need them.
Just wanted to add some info to this. Apparently the wristbands are more about advertising than actual effectiveness. Colorado State University found they didn't work. Similarly, closer to WDW the University of Florida showed that wristbands were not effective.
well...put it this way....they wont bite your wrist..but they will bite everywhere else. Like other posters say...havnt seen any mosquitoes in Disney but certainly have been bitten outside the parks. You have to be careful these days too what with the outbreak of West Nile disease ( from Mosquitoes). We take a can or pump spray of "OFF" with us...you can get the family one thats not as harsh. The other thing you can do if you dont want to use repellant is rub a tumble dryer sheet over your skin. This is a well known thing here in Texas. I own a wedding business and all the brides use them so they dont stink of repellant on their big day. A lot of moms here tuck a dryer sheet in the babys stroller too. When the kids were younger I would always carry some in my bag. The time you have to watch out for is around dusk as this is when mosquitoes hatch. You can pick up some "OFF" in Florida when you get there in any Wallmart, publix or walgreens, its about $3 and well worth it.
