That was awful. :P

I am gonna be so bummed when the price goes down. Hopefully it goes up and I feel vindicated. LOL

I booked my airfare about a month ago and I still check periodically to see if the flights times have changed. Some days it's cheaper and some days it's more than what I paid. I just try to think of it as what's done is done, and live with it. The good news is that if it goes up or down, you are not out any more money than what you've already parted with so just try not to think about it too much. :thumbsup2

I've booked our airfare as well! I bit the bullet about a month ago. So far I have only seen it down about $4/person. Hopefully I won't see a huge decrease in fares. I'm just glad I have it booked and I don't have to worry about finding a fare I'm okay with. And, I really like the flight times that we booked!! :cool1: We will be arriving mid-morning, and our flight out does not leave until 8 pm. We will have several more hours at WDW than I originally thought!

We purchased our airfare a couple of months ago, and have yet to see it go down. Honestly with gas prices they way there are, cannot imagine it going down too much, if any-so hopefully you did good! It is nice knowing it is taken care of and done with. Have a great trip!:goodvibes

I wanted to try naming my own price at Priceline, but I didn't like the idea of not having a say over flight times. LOL You could lose a whole day of vacation if your flights are timed badly.

But in most cases it is still better to wait for a sale instead of buy at their everyday low price.

Actually, you could lose 2 whole days if you arrive late one day and head home at the crack of dawn!

OP--stop looking. We bought our August flights a few weeks ago when I felt the price was finally something we could deal with. It may go down, it may not, but looking for it to drop is like waiting for someone to step on your toe!

We bought our Sept tickets in early Feb. I got 3 round trip for $620 on AA. from Chicago to Orlando. Same flights are about $1300 now SO I am glad I bought them early

Unless I'm flying SW and can get a credit and know I'll be able to use that credit, once I book I don't look at the airfare again. Why torture yourself that way? Once you're booked, you're booked.

Last week I booked my flight to Orlando when SW fares took a dip and I saw a flight time that was good for us. But we still don't have flights home and I waited too long to get the SW flight I wanted (it's high and probably nearly full). So I watch and wait knowing I may be stuck with some horrible connection flight home. But at least I'll get to Orlando! :)

I always book my flight the first day it's posted. I don't want to take any chance of not getting the flight I want.

We booked our Aug. airfare back in Sept. We got $179 roundtrip non-stop each way (first flight to MCO and last one back) with all taxes and fees. I check periodically to make sure the flight times are the same or that they haven't changed the type of plane so we need to redo our flights and so far the price we paid is the cheapest it has been and nothing has come close yet.

I feel your pain, especially if (from your signature) you had to buy 6 tickets like I am about to.:scared1:

Unless your airline has a pricedrop policy, I'd stop looking to see if they fall. Cancel the alerts, etc. You'll only make yourself grumpy.

I am also too OCD to do Priceline for airline tickets. Since we have to fly so far cross-country, the "bad" flights would put us there super late and leave super early to come home. I might pay a bit more, but I'll have a full first evening, and a half-day the last day. Since the extra day of park tickets is cheap at that point, it's almost a full extra day without the hotel cost for another night.

Not this time, DH and I are going alone. We took the kids a couple years ago and luckily airfare was cheaper at the time. Only $225 each.

Stop looking at the fares. Move on to something else, like booking dinner reservations.

Yep, I am doing that. Obsessively checking on Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party... ;) What else am I gonna do at my 16 hour work night tonight? heehee

Unfortunately, this advice isn't as good as it used to be. Sales are becoming few & far between. And depending on your city & airline preference, may never happen.

We fly out of Buffalo & we prefer Jetblue. I bought our airfare the day it was released. Paid $289 each round trip for our prefered flights : nonstop both ways, fly there early & home mid day. We have flown this route several times before & usually pay from $180 - 220. I fare watched after buying & did see it go down about $15, but didn't bother getting a credit. Mostly, it went up.

Anyway, I'm glad I bought when I did. Advice on this board was to wait for a sale or better fare. Posters here said 90 days out is the best bet for good fares. Well, I'm @ 97 days out. Jetblue has changed our flights to smaller planes. Our flight down has only a few seats left now & the price for that 1 way is $400!!!! Flight back is no longer listed on the website...it is sold out!!

So there will be no "sale" on our preferred flights. If we had waited to buy, we wouldn't even be able to get on our preferred return flight.

So OP, if you got flights you want as far as times & a price you can live with, I say, good for you! These days, I think that's the best you can expect. Don't second guess yourself or dwell on the fares you used to pay. Relax & enjoy the rest of your planning! :goodvibes

HEAR-HEAR!!! Well said !!!! :goodvibes

I also was in the waiting game boat. Back in April I was in such a panic because for the first time I couldnt find southwest flights i could afford. Flights were over $130(8/24) one way going and about $185(9/3) coming back..That was $315 per person !!! With 7 of us flying that is almost $2500 with taxes and fees!!! :scared1:

I waited and kept looking. Then one day I came across an add for Continental airlines. Out of curiousity, i took a look....I found a flight for $59 from PHL to MCO!! What was the catch? There was an 1hour and 49minute layover in Washington DC, but it still put us in Florida before Noon. We were used to Non-stop flights, but for $59 and in Florida by Noon, was GREAT. So I jumped on it. Then I found AIR TRAN coming back on Saturday 9/3(holiday weekend) for $130 Non-stop. So I jumped on that. In the end, I spent less than $2000 with taxes, fees, and baggage included. I was glad to have it behind me. Then don't you know Southwest lowered their airfares to $99 down and $115 coming back. Both were non-stop. At first I was devastated. But now I realize, suppose fares didnt come down then what would I have done. My DH says he agreed with what I decided because it was done and we are still getting to Florida and back on a budget we can afford no matter which airline we take.

But of course, I don't begrudge anyone for wanting to play the waiting game until the dire end. But I have seen many posts on these boards where people end up DRIVING instead of flying because their budget wouldnt allow for flying. And sometimes I can't help but wonder if in some cases it is because they waited too long to purchase tickets. :confused3
