Bit of an odd question for the "Pros"

DH and I are planning a VR for our 10th anniversary.
We are on the fence about doing Escape vs. Wishes.
If just our immediate family comes we'll most likely do Escape, but if we choose to invite friends, etc. we will go Wishes.
My question is this - IF we go Wishes, and sign the contract, send the deposit, etc. and then a lot of people back out and our guest list shrinks to the "Escape" area can we downgrade our package?

I know it might be an odd question but I thought it one that may be answered here rather than calling DFTW...

TIA!

I don't know if they'll let you "downgrade" but they'll almost certainly let you upgrade. I would go with the lower level with a view to upgrading than the higher level and relying on them downgrading.

This is what I was going to suggest as well. When we were trying to decide between Wishes and Escape we were given the same advice: start with an Escape and upgrade if you need to.

Sorry to chime in but I've been worried about this for a different reason.

Everywhere says if the guest list goes below 18 you have to have Escape, I really want wishes

If at the final count our guest list drops below 18 does anyone know if I can still have the wishes wedding we would have been planning if we still pay all minimums

Thanks x

Hopefully an expert will come along, but I believe so. :goodvibes

I have heard talk of this but it didn't use to be the case as I only had 6 guests and I could have had Wishes if I'd wanted.

Actually, this was changed recently--- now you need to have at least 20 guests. I know this is effective as of 2013, but maybe they didn't change it for 2012 weddings? I'll bet Carrie knows! :)

At the minute I have 25 including df and me but 6 of them are one family that won't know until much nearer the time if they can make it

I haven't managed to speak to a coordinator to ask because the wedding won't be until may 2013 nobody will speak to me yet as it's too soon

Thank you all for your replies so far

X

I think it used to be a minimum of 10 for Wishes, but for weddings now it will be 20 people (the couple plus 18 guests)

Erica sweetie - Good to see you back on the boards!!! I am going to say go with a S/D wedding and you won't have to worry how many guests you have, meeting minimum/maximums etc, but then you knew I would say that didn't you!!!

Hi Joanne!!

You know, I actually thought about that today - and the first thing I said to DH was "I Bet Joanne would know" and he said "Oh, the lady on those boards that made your Cheshire design?" LOL!

:goodvibes Good to see the design is still your avatar!!! You are so sweet to use it!!!
