Hi all,

I'm new on this forum after visiting DLRP in september 08 with the wife and 3 kids for our honeymoon / family holiday I would like to take them all back again for Christmas on the 20th for 3 nights as a surprise but not sure where the best deals etc are ?

Does anyone know of the cheapest way to get there and where to stay etc please ?

We drove last time via the tunnel which worked out fine really, can't wait to go back hopefully this year.

We have a 12yo, 9yo and a 1 yo to come with us so would need to fit us all, stayed in the Davy Crockett Ranch last time which was ok, not the best of places but for sleeping / breakfast it suited us perfectly fine.

When I have more posts I will post some pics of our recent visit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mark

Hi Mark and welcome.

I am booked to go on the 20th December for 3 nights and got a brilliant price for the Holiday Inn. Their pool is closed, so their prices have been really reduced to compensate. We are going on Eurostar, but I'm guessing for a family, driving via Eurotunnel is going to be cheapest. That's what we did when all 4 of us went in August and stayed in Davy Crockett Ranch.

Book via Expedia for the best hotel price if staying offsite.

Hello and welcome

Most rooms in Disney hotels sleep 4 people (the 1 yr old wouldnt count towards occupancy)

Most have 2 double beds but Cheyenne has 1 double and bunks - you could also then get a travel cot for the baby.

We have just booked a reasonably cheap deal on Expedia for Nov staying at Kyriad which is just off site but ahs a shuttle bus.

The other option would be Holiday Inn or Explorers which again are just off site. Some people got some rteally cheap deals at Holiday Inn in December

The chepest way to get there is to drive as otherwise you are paying for each person

i havent been yet but as your youngest is only one the baby will not be counted towards room occupancy. there will be four plus one baby in my room. so any of the hotels can accomadate you

If the 2 oldest don't want to share a bed then the Cheyenne has a set of bunk beds in the room, where as the rest of the onsite hotels tend to have 2 double beds in them.

Excellent thanks for all the replies.

Where is the best place to book the Holiday Inn or check prices for it at least ?

when we stayed there we booked it direct - google and you will find their own website - sorry I dont know the link to it

Hi Again,

Well I bit the bullet and booked again, so we're going back on the 18th December for 3 nights staying at the DCR again...really can't wait.

Not going to tell the kids until the day we set off....thats gonna be difficult keeping that quiet lol.

Thanks for all the advice here from everyone.

We love the Davy Crockett Ranch. Would love to hear what it is like at Xmas :goodvibes

Will do a trip report when we return....if we get time lol gonna be manic.

Really can't wait though.

Never been at Xmas so should be special.

Sounds fab - would love to know what the DCR is like as I've heard so many mixed reviews about it. I wish I could go for the Christmas season.

Your kids will love it - how nice to keep it a surprise :goodvibes

We stayed at DCR last Christmas and the cabins were lovely and warm coz we left the heaters on all day while we were out

Thanks, it's gonna be difficult keeping it quiet, nearly let it slip yesterday lol

Not going to tell them until we actually leave the house, going to tell them that were just going away for a few days to see friends lol gonna be great seeing the look on their faces when they find out.

I was going to do that but failed miserably - I am no good with secrets :confused3

i can imagine how excited they will be when they find out.

lol i wish dbf would take a look at the boards and see all the people surprising their families for xmas :rotfl:

what a lovely suprise i hope you have a great time!

We're now trying to think up a plan to tell them, instead of saying we're going to disneyland.

What we had thought about was saying we're going to see friends, stop to get petrol and come out saying hey kids someone just gave us this envelope (with their names on), gold envelope with a pic inside from mickey saying happy christmas see ya soon !! or something like that anyway lol

Just had a call from the booking line to say the ONLY channel tunnel time available on the 18th is 7.25 in the morning...so driving through the night is in order me thinks...that will make the kids wonder what is going on lol
