Too funny, the depth of opinions on this board
DW and I went to Bistro de paris on Monday Nov 10. For those of you who were there Nov 10, the weather was on and off rainy all day but not too cool - not exactly the best day to head out
We had Kids Nite Out come to the room to take care of our two DS for the late afternoon/evening
We valet parked (we are DVC members) at the BWV/BWI and proceeded down to the Boardwalk (after buying yet another Mickey umbrella) and walked over to Epcot WS - we had lots of time so we were able to do some shop browsing within France before Dinner. As an unexpecteD bonus, I was able to get a character picture in France (not sure who the character was - probably from French history) with a lovely CM who was dressed in the trois-colouers of France (Red/White/Blue)
We proceeded into the Bistro entrance at our 6:00pm time and waited a few minutes before being greeted in a most gracious fashion by one of the seating hosts. We were practicing our somewhat limited French all night - not sure if it annoyned them or amused them.....
We both had the Kir Royale and Mineral Water - we did not order any wine as we took note of their large markups on the wine prices.
For appertisers, I had the Double Consomme (spelling?) which was very nice
For Dinner, I had a funny request (the waiter thought it was a funny way to order): I asked for the meat dish that "was most reflective of the French cuisine" - he advised me to order the Veal Chop dish which I did. DW ordered the Pan Seared Lobster.
My dinner was very good - the only knock was that the potatoes were warm as opposed to hot when the dish was brought to me but it was not a big deal to me. Otherwise the portion size, flavours and presentation were excellent. DW loved her lobster dish and proclaimed it to be "excellent" and " tres bien" (very good in French).
For dessert we ordered a grand marnier souffle and the hot chocolate cake. The souffle was very good but the chocalate cake with the molten chocolate centre was absolutely delicious! I would say it should be their signature dessert at the Bistro. The dessert was so good we were anxiously taking turns having tastes of it.
The service was excellent, we liked the ambience - decor, atmosphere, seating etc. We had an excellent table with a lot of space and the dinner length was about 1hr 45 minutes which felt like an appropriate amount of time.
The only knock we have is that the bathrooms need some serious updating and investment - they were not what I would expect in a quality restaurant.
This is an expensive place to eat (maybe the most expensive next to V&A at WDW) but we thought it was worthwhile for a special night out during our trip to celebrate our fist DVC owner trip to WDW. The price was about US$140 for the two of us without wine.
We would eat there again for a special night out and would recommend to people looking for a nice "special" kind of dinner
thanks
Jason
