I made a reservation at Yachtsman to celebrate our anniversary because we're staying at BCV. However I'm not thrilled with the menu and I haven't seen all that many glowing reviews. I want to stay around the Epcot area because my DD will be at the Sand Castle Club, I was looking for an alternative and found an opening at Bistro de Paris. I don't see that many reviews of it I guess because it isn't on the dining plan. I wanted to get some opinions on paying OP for the Bistro because I really like their menu. I have enough other meals booked to use up our dining credits so I'm not worried about that.

You may also want to look into the chef's tasting menu at the Flying Fish. We did this for our anniversary in May and it was wonderful. They have a 5:15 and 8:15 seating. It may only be available at the Chef's Counter but I am not sure on that.

To answer your question, I would pick Bistro de Paris over the Yachtsman to me it's a bit more "special", but I would do the FF that I mentioned above over both of those.

From what I understand the FF tasting menu is only available with counter seating. Not a romantic date night.

Bistro de Paris is good. If you aren't using the dining plan you might also consider some of the restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin (Bluezoo, Shula's, or Il Mulino, Kimonos if you are into sushi but get out before the karaoke starts at 9:30)

We tried Flying Fish last year and I really liked it but my DH wasn't impressed. I forgot about Bluezoo, I have always thought there menu was really interesting. Also did I read somewhere that their child care center is free when you are having dinner there? I think I need to go look at the Swan/Dolphin website.

We really enjoyed Bistro de Paris but Bluezoo at the Dolphin is fabulous. We ranked it right up with California Grill. I think it will be a must do from now on.:thumbsup2

Bistro de Paris and bluezoo tie for second for us (behind Victoria & Alberts) and far ahead of Yachtsman. bluezoo is great if you love fish because they don't have much else; Bistro's menu is more well rounded.

We have eaten at Bistro many times and have never had a bad meal there.

Thanks everyone. Now I've got to get my DH to look at the menus. I'm leaning towards Bluezoo because I love the menu plus you get 2 free hours at Camp Dolphin during your dinner.

Much as I like Yachtsman, I consider Bistro a much better restaurant for both food and service. And since Bistro does not accept DDP and discourages children, it tends to be quieter and much more romantic.

I'm glad I found this thread!

DH and I had a very nice experience at Yachtsman on a date night recently, but I haven't tried bluezoo, so I can't compare. My sister went to bluezoo in May and loved it.

DH and I are thinking of trying Bistro in September (we're going without the kiddies!!) and I've been studying the menus.

I've also never tried FF. Somehow we ALWAYS end up at Cali Grill.

Sounds like a fun date night! Enjoy!:goodvibes

Celebrated our anniversary at Bistro two years ago. Last year at Jiko. This year we are going to Bluezoo for chef's tasting and wine pairing.

Happy anniversary!!
