Bissinger's chocolate

I wanted to let the team know that I know exactly what they went through receiving Bissinger's chocolate. I received some from a friend I met here on the DIS, and I had the same "oh my GAWD" experience with the chocolate, too.

So when I heard Pete moaning in ecstasy over this chocolate, I nodded my head and went, "Yep, that's pretty much what it's like".

Oh, the kind I received was a box of what was called the chocolate & wine tasting collection (but can easily be enjoyed without wine). 12 small bars of different levels of cocoa. There was 38% milk chocolate, and dark chocolate in 55%, 60% and 70% varieties. All of them were fantastic, melt-in-your-mouth quality fantastic.

Ours was all milk chocolate and it broke off into huge chunks! Delicious!!

I grew up eating Bissinger's, being from St. Louis, and all. We would save change to spend on chocolates at their mall shops.

Actually, someone from St. Louis should send them some Merbs. Especially the dark chocolate covered caramel filled marshmallow eggs that they make for Easter. (You can get them at Dierbergs - I know the one at Mackenzie Point used to carry them....)

I moved away from St. Louis in 2000 and that is one thing I still ask my brother to send me every year.

I liked the itty bars of chocolate because I couldn't control myself enough to eat chocolate that broke off in huge chunks! I'd have polished a big honkin' chocolate bar in no time.

It was way safer to eat the small bars, even if I did want to have more than 1 at a time.
