It had been a great day in Epcot, not only for me, but for all of the clan as well. Initially Tracy wasnt that excited about this particular park. Her sole experience here was from the day of inconvenience on our honeymoon and it was known as home of our first fight. I knew that once we were there thought that she would love it. As we were leaving and heading back to the bus stop to transfer to DHS, Tracy told me she had a good time and was starting to see the place in a new light. And that my friends, just made my day.

Im with you that one. On our big family trip and on our honeymoon, I LOVED MGM. I could have happily spent all day doing the backstage tour in the soundstages when something was filming. But alas, those days are forever gone. The place definitely has different vibe to it now. I have to say Epcot climbed to the top for me this trip. I still love the MK, MGM is still a fun park, and I have yet to completely explore AK, but for now Epcot reigns supreme.Don't you love Epcot? MGM used to be favorite until they changed the ambience of the park. I feel like it's lost it's identity. Hopefully, TSM and Pixar Place and the resurgence of the Muppets can reinvigorate the park. AK is now my fave, but something about Epcot....you mention nostalgia...for me I think that's it. Attractions like Spaceship Earth, The Seas, Journey, Universe of Energy still have the essence of the original attraction, but just updated. Sometimes it works out better, sometimes not, but the intangible of nostalgia....
I like that it is a self-paced attraction. (Once you get off the clam shells that is.) This will definitely stay on our must do list for next time. (Whenever that may be.)The living seas is one of Jimmy's favorites too! HE could spend hours there if I let him.![]()
Like my father in law is fond of saying, Sometimes a fellows got to know his limitations. How awesome that you didn't ruin Epcot forever for Tracy on your honeymoon - but I notice you didn't go back to Coral Reef![]()
Vexorg! Whats up man? Long time no see. Ill definitely have to check out your update!I do have to admit Epcot probably wasn't my favorite place when I went on my trip, but then again I didn't have a whole lot of time to spend there. I thought The Seas was interesting, but if I went again I'd probably go in through the gift shop and just skip the ride.
(Oh, and if you missed it, I updated my TR a few days ago.)
That stinketh!Well, I had a nice tidy reply written up for you, but about 15 minutes into it (which is a lot of typing) I lost my power- and my post. Hate when that happens!
Nostalgia is a good thing. Im glad you liked Journey. It wasnt that I thought this was a bad ride. I just liked the orig better. I think if I had not had that comparison in mind, it would have been more enjoyable.Anyway, here are the highlights:
Love Crush, Dude!
Haven't seen O, Canada but it's on my list of must-dos for Sept. I adored the China show, and imagine it's the same genre/ different scenery.
Hate to admit it, but love the Figment, farts and all. The giggles and smiles it evokes of my kids is priceless!! I hadn't seen the orig. so whatever. I like this one.
Nostalgia... memories of holding Grandma's hand on the old "submarine ride" in Disneyland, and skipping over to the Pirate ride with her. It's those nostaligic memories that make us who we are in some ways.
It was definitely a great day. The line, such as it was, wasnt too bad at all. The instrument carpet was working and highly enjoyed by all.Sounds like a great day. I'm surprised you actually had a wait for Journey into Imagination. I haven't seen a wait for that ride since about 1994, lol. The old version always had a wait. They must have fixed that instrument carpet. When we were there in May, it was just a place to let Madeline run around. It did't include any sound effects.
Thats what I love about The World. Even in the face of tragedy you can always recover some magic. Id definitely recommend you take a gander at the place.I love two biscuit updates so close together!
It's always a good thing when you can turn a previously bad experience into a good one!I have to say that I'm also excited to see the chages made to the Seas Pavillion because it's been three years since I've been there. We actually by-passed this attraction when we went in 2007. . . not my choice being the sea lover that I am.

That it did!Sounds like your afternoon more than made up for the rushing to get to lunch!
Indeed there was. From where we were located, it was about a 10-15 min walk to the boat dock, with an unknown wait time for a boat, with a 40 min ride to DHS. Conversely, the Bus Stop was about a 5-10 min walk, with an unknown wait time, with a 10 min ride to DHS.Was there a specific reason you bussed it to DHS instead of taking the boat?
It was definitely nice to take it out of overdrive and cost for a while.I love how your day turned from a mad rush to meandering and taking your time! I also really love seeing all the great inside heat escaping activities.
I agree. The first time I was there, I liked Epcot, but didnt really get it. The more time I spend in the park, the more I love it.I think Epcot (FW mostly) is a park that really grows on you, that at first glance isn't all that welcoming or intuitive but slowly, over time, sucks you in! Even in the WS there is SO much going on and yet it's easy to just stroll by it. It is a park that cries out for meandering.
Me too!I'm glad Tracy had such a good day and you have a new memory of it to share.
Love the shark pic!
Thanks! Nothing like some Disney magic to sway the swing voters. We love Epcot too - honestly, it's our favourite park! Love the great pictures - you are an awesome photographer!I'm so glad you were able to change Tracey's opinion of Epcot into a favourable one - well done!

That would be a bit odd! I will say I enjoyed it overall. And I still think Circle Vision is way nifty cool.I've seen O'Canada (no idea why the family wanted to see it last time, but whatever) and, although it does focus on the east (as does everything lol), I found the movie quite relaxing - of course, it helps that Martin Short does the narration (love him!). As a Canadian, watching a tourism movie about Canada is kind of weird![]()
(Cuing chorus) Amen!Great update, Biscuit.
I'm totally with you on the use of scent in the attractions - it's a great thing, so long as it's used for good rather than for evil.
I hope its soon! Im sure you guys will love it!Now that I've read this update, I think that The Living Seas would rank pretty darn high for my DD. DH and I have breezed thru it before and it was kinda "Yeah, that's cool. What's next?", but I bet that DD would help us to slow down and really take it in now.
Man, I'm looking forward to that trip. I don't know when it is, but I can hardly wait!
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to more.![]()
It was definitely a great way to spend the afternoon.Whew, another update! You're on a roll! I love Epcot, too. Well, I love them all, really. I really wish my dad would let us take our time once in a while, though. I do think it would be much more enjoyable if we were allowed to smell the roses a little, or watch the fishies. I think your day (well, the second half after the whole restaurant rush) sounds just about perfect.
Indeed there was. From where we were located, it was about a 10-15 min walk to the boat dock, with an unknown wait time for a boat, with a 40 min ride to DHS. Conversely, the Bus Stop was about a 5-10 min walk, with an unknown wait time, with a 10 min ride to DHS.
It definetly makes it nice to get from place to place.
Good reason! I keep forgetting that the buses can go park to park now.

Dome huh? I like the way you think!AK is a park that requires one to slow down. It may not have many attractions, but the theming and the attention to detail are amped up here it seems....It's simply too hot during warmer times though. Wish they could put a dome over it...![]()
We experienced the boats twice. It was slow going both times and deathly hot during the day. NOT a happy time.Bravo for helping to win over the Mrs. on Epcot! I would call it my second fave park. MK will always reign supreme for me.
On the boat vs. bus talk....TRUST ME you made the right decision. We learned a valuable lesson last weekend. One I'm surprised I haven't learned earlier, as we normally stay at Epcot resorts. The boats are EVIL. EVIL I tell you. They were, despite "air conditioning", total SAUNAS. Claustrophic, hot, sweaty, and S-L-O-W. The trip from one park to the other takes about 30 minutes. They will say 20. I say 30. Both times we tried it (going the other way, DHS to Epcot), we ended up getting off at one of the resorts and hoofing it the rest of the way. It was worth it, even in the heat, to get a little fresh air and to feel like we were actually moving....
Loved to see the girls enjoying a relaxing time in the pavillions! It's often those unplanned, laid back activities that bring the greatest memories!
