Birthdays

We are going to DW in late June/July and two family members are celebrating birthdays. Is there anything fun that I can arrange while enjoying a character breakfast...any other ideas?

I went for my birthday in Sept 2001. We were waiting for the bus at the resort one morning, and my dd who was a year old at the time (it was her first trip) went over to the little kiosk out front that sells pins, and autograph books and whatever...Well, long story short, the CM found out it was her first trip and my birthday, and gave us both certificates for the occasions. They are really nice, they have the major icons for all the parks on it and they write in your name, the date and the occasion. The CM also handed me the telephone at her booth, and on the other end of the line was Goofy singing me Happy Birthday! That was a great way to start off our day. All you have to do is let someone know, and they'll help you pull off pretty much whatever. When my husband was SCUBA diving in The Living Seas, one of the other divers asked for a chalk board to ask his fiance to marry him! I guess they do things like that all the time. We were eating lunch at Tony's in MK because the character lunch was moved there when Crystal Palace was being renovated. There were several people in there that got Happy Birthday sung to them in Italian. It was pretty cool. Good luck, and have fun!!!!

Let the restaraunt know that there is a birthday celebration. A character will bring over a cupcake with a candle if it is a character meal and they sing happy birthday. Last summer, we did DS's birthday. He wanted his birthday meal at Tepannyaki. They brought out a whole birthday cake so that our table could each have a piece. The room sang happy birthday to him.

We also have done a birthday illuminations cruise for DD the year prior. It was costly, but a great time. They had streamers and balloons on the pontoon boat. We got to eat birthday cake there while watching Illuminations. The other boats sang happy birthday to DD and then, after Illuminations, the people on the shore sang to DD, also!

Get an "Today is my birthday" button from guest services at the parks to wear and lots of people will wish the birthday person a happy birthday.

If you are staying at a resort on site, let the front desk know. On the birthday, OKW brought a bunch of balloons with an autograph picture to our room while we were out. I have read that sometimes this does not happen, but all three birthdays have been nice with balloons and a card from a character.
